Do you find that you have a better quality of life working in the hospital? Flexible hours, better pay, less demanding etc? I’m currently a social worker in government and I’m looking to transition to hospital setting in hopes to have a fuller life. Government is very demanding with tons of productivity and quotas that has to be met daily

Mhmm that is an interesting question. A challenging question, because every job has it's con's and challenges. For my experience, I really enjoy not working weekends and having a bit of flexibility with my schedule since I don't work a hard 40 hrs. Honestly, I think hospitals are now making the salaries that LMSW/LCSW's deserve. Hospitals are just as political and have their own productivity and quotas But because I have more PTO and no weekends and holiday's it helps with the difficult days and job expectations. But all of that is dependent on the hospital, job role and responsibilities, pay, hours, hospital politics, management, colleagues! I've had a decent experience to be honest with you, but you won't know unless you try so go for it!

I want to get my degree in medical social work but I’m looking for a way to avoid gen ed classes, ( especially math).
@AuJunaeAntoinette Жыл бұрын
Ohhh yeah that is the "sucky" part! those classes are not fun! I had to take a stats class to be fully enrolled in my MSW program! Was a challenging summer!

I'm currently working toward getting my Associate's in Psychology just finished my first year, and plan to continue getting my Bachelors in Psych as well. Do you think it's possible to enter a career in social work with a B.A in Psych?
@AuJunaeAntoinette Жыл бұрын
Yes I think it is possible. You might not have a ton of options initially until you can get some experience but there are individuals who are not BSW's working in SW profession. You can look into MSW programs after you have obtained your Psych B.A. I suggest once you get you MSW to work on getting your LCSW (not all jobs require it). But if you still want to be able to work in the mental health area as well.
