Cool video, seems you spend more time on meetings and travel than writing code, would you say most developer jobs at big companies are like that?
@DustinBrett2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That was indeed the case last week as there were some events going on. Typically since moving out of downtown, I just do WFH. I'd say too many meetings is common enough too ya, but so far it's been not bad at MS.
@gregap82822 жыл бұрын
My brother works in engineering too, for a big company and his schedule is similar. I'm studying programming and software engineering and the only thing that I'm dreading are the meetings. More often than not, they're a waste of time. Micromanagement I would say.
@DustinBrett2 жыл бұрын
@@gregap8282 I think the entire working world is still trying to find a balance of meetings/standups/etc since going hybrid/wfh. We've already had some weeks with less meetings or no meeting days have become normal to combat this issue.

@@DustinBrett what monitors are those, if you dont mind me asking?
@DustinBrett2 жыл бұрын
@@1021017ify Sure np, I mentioned them briefly in kzbin.infoK8G_JueYPck, basically an LG 38" Ultra Wide in the middle, a 28" on the left and 27" on the right in portrait orientation. Neither side monitor is spectacular, just inherited over time. I like the 3 monitors though with the ultrawide in the middle as it allows me to not see any gaps in my main forward view and I can designate other screens to specific tasks. Typically my right monitor is for communication, left for running version of my side project and the middle is for everything else such as the code and some random scifi thing on VLC. Thanks for asking!
