Unfortunately, some areas do pay that much, however, you can always negotiate your pay 💰. Some people in the medical field have to work their way up. I know phlebotomists right now who have discussed their pay and I know some who have started out with $15 and now they are making $28 at Kaiser with only 2 years of experience.

What are the necessary standard precautions that a phlebotomist should practice when collecting blood specimen from a SUSPECTED COVID-19 patient?
@theempressseries89073 жыл бұрын
Great question! Adhere to Respiratory Hygiene/Cough Etiquette and Standard Precautions: Adhere to routine infection control procedures, including appropriate respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette and sharps handling precautions for preventing the transmission of infectious agents. Evaluate the risk of exposure; and select, implement, and ensure workers use controls to prevent exposure. Follow Routine Hand Hygiene Practices: Follow hand hygiene guidance to help prevent person-to-person spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses. Staff should wash hands with soap and water between contacts with different blood donors. If gloves are used, change gloves and cleanse hands between contact with different blood donors. With regard to staff safety, the wearing of gloves and hand cleansing are governed by OSHA requirements pertaining to bloodborne pathogens. Healthcare personnel should adhere to Standard and Transmission-based Precautions when caring for patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. N95 respirator/ Face Mask/ Face shield/ Gown/ Gloves/ etc... Next, CPT1’s should clean and disinfect environmental surfaces afterwards using the anti viral disinfectant.

Jocelyn V Hey:) Great question. They know you are fresh out of school towards the end and they also acknowledge that you are there to learn ... mind you you aren’t getting paid for it so you are just there to learn and complete your schooling. it’s still apart of school training really because without your extern you can’t legal get your certification or License in the state of California and other states you know? At my externship in the hospital (linked in the description) they took their time and actually trained me for 2 days they were kind and patient and then they let me do me :) and I excelled! I guess it just depends on your environment everyone is different but I am going to speak it into existence that people are kind and patient with you.

Daysi Buenaventura Hey thank you for watching :) and congratulations on your career choice! School is about 2-3 weeks or 2 months just depends on the course you have chosen for yourself. If you do one day Saturday school I do believe that is longer a much longer course I believe that takes two months to three months to complete. If you do a weekly course it only takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete the course. Now that’s not including your externship (40 hours), NHA test you must complete to get your license, immunizations, and your background tests. I recommend AUMT it’s a great school.

ABOUT HOW MANY DRAWS DO U DO IN A DAY?
@theempressseries89073 жыл бұрын
When I was mobile phlebotomist I was only drawing about 4-20 patients per day and covid testing I was swabbing 20-200 people per day. It depends on the site. I work part time(4-5 hours) in a known lab currently and I draw a total of 25-40 patients a day, and I process about 20-200 specimens a day.
