As a pediatric nurse its crazy how differently we do things! Admittedly im in oncology/BMT so we have a million meds usually so the first hour and a half is literally just getting meds ready and administered. Plus were meant to do our AM assessments at the bedside (we have computers at every bedside). Then by that point they'd be due meds again (typically every 2 hours depending on how sick they are). I definitely spend a lot less time doing the "fun stuff" cause our kids are usually so sick. Its a lot more running around getting orders filled and clarified + intense symptom management.

I absolutely love my job, but it does have it tough times. Definitely way the pros and cons of both before making a big decision to change careers altogether. Literally I set there at 3 am crying because everybody keeps discouraging me saying it’s super hard to be a pediatric nurse. I started my nursing degree last year and all my classes been online. Next semester is gonna be in person. I am so nervous and idk what to do. I wanna be a pediatric nurse but idk if I have the courage cuz sometimes I get so nervous.
