I don’t see many female pa youtubers ~made me feel motivated for the future ^^ Question- do you ever feel like people degrade you as a pa as compared to an md?
@itsKendraLynne7 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching!! No one is ever really "degrading". Some people prefer to see the physician rather than the PA and that's fine with me, to each their own. I usually just nicely inform the patient that I am in direct contact with the physician and my treatment plan would be the same as theirs and usually they are okay with seeing me afterwards. It's all about demeanor and confidence :)
@terrielsayed83955 жыл бұрын
I actually preferred to see my Dr's PA, he seemed to spend more time with and answered most of my questions. If he didn't know the answer he would be honest, but then get back to me. I was always disappointed when after 3 visits I had to see the Dr., lol . I appreciate them both though.

Cool video! This was great for people to see what a surgical PA does on a daily basis. I have worked in the operating room for 15 years as a certified surgical tech and now a certified surgical first assistant for the past 8 years.I trained in the Army and I am now trying to get into a PA program. I just applied to 16 PA schools to hopefully start in one next summer. I’m hoping I get at least a couple of interviews! By the way, you were actually running a sub-cuticular stitch on the first mass excision. :) I have helped train many PA’s on suturing techniques in the OR. Now it’s my turn to actually move up in the world and become one! Again great video!

Not discounting what a ENT PA does in the OR there are many other surgical positions for PA's and their hours vary greatly. I've been a PA specializing in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery for 13 years. Typically our day starts much earlier and can diversify from OR to CVICU to office to step-down unit care to all those in the same day. Our cases can range from 1-2 hours to 4, 5, 6...8 + hours depending on the case. The important thing to note in this career field is that we are valuable assets that can practice in all areas of medicine, surgery or not, and are pliable with a skillset that allows us to switch between specialties. I have friends that do tons of surgery- ortho, trauma, urology, neurosurgery, etc. and they all work varying schedules. If you are looking into being a PA it's a challenging yet very rewarding field. I absolutely LOVE what I do!
@itsKendraLynne6 жыл бұрын
I never said this was what all first assist PAs do. it's a day in MY life as first assist in ENT, so need to "discount" what we do in this field in the OR.
@donstarnutinwonbenutinuhh42246 жыл бұрын
I'm not discounting what any of us does. Like I said our jobs vary greatly depending on the specialty. Perhaps a better title would be 'day in the life of an ENT PA.' Relax, it's all good. I am simply trying to let others know that schedules/specialties can vary greatly.
