As a Jets fan, great to have this kind of goaltending prospect we like stole late in the draft.

Is it a thing now to not have your stick down on the ice at all times?? Am I old school now?? Damn.

Yeah part of it is the standard stick size in NHL now for goalie's paddle is like 24-25" compared to the 27+ from in the past. The reason for this is because with a shorter paddle your blocker is in a better position when down in butterfly now as opposed to with a longer paddle. No one makes saves standing anymore, so you can have the stick off the ice while positioning but usually the second that shot comes you're going down and the stick will still cover what it's supposed to. I grew up taught the old school way as well but I have transitioned into this newer style just fine. It works better than you think it would and I feel more mobile with hands held up a bit before the shot is released. Rather than worrying about that stick being down the whole time you're moving around.
