Inside the Life of a DEL Hockey League MVP

This is Nick Mattinen, of the Straubing Tigers. It’s his first season in the DEL, Germany’s top professional hockey league and it’s safe to say things went pretty good for him this year. Now for the next 72 hours in the middle of his season I’ll be following him around, documenting the practices, games and every moment in between because surprise we’re actually old friends from university! So, now you can see what life is like playing in one of the top hockey leagues throughout Europe!

I just went to the most recent Eisbären v Ice Tigers match in Berlin, I support the Eisbären so was happy to see them hold the lead, but this was cool to see. Also the Ice Tiger fans had really good energy and chanted their hearts out so credit to them. But our netminder Hildebrand was immense so it was a hard match. This was a super cool video and as a DEL fan I loved to see a day in the life. Cheers!

I mean you’d have to ask Toronto for the exact reasoning but not every player who gets drafted makes it to the NHL. It’s a hard league to crack and a lot of the time it comes down to the smallest differences on whether you make it or not.

I wouldn’t really be able to do that due to rules broadcast companies have on the rights to the games. Depends on the organization obviously but normally filming the full game and publishing that would be off the table. Additionally, I just don’t have the personal resources to be able to do that unfortunately. Appreciate the suggestion though, thanks!
