In the history of the Produce series, announcing the 11th place was the most nerve-wracking to watch than announcing the 1st place lol. In the case of JO1, having Sho announced as the 11th member was really unforgettable. In my opinion, he was chosen as the leader not because of his age but because of his character and demeanor. If you've watched the season, you can really see him as a kind, humble, chill, and passionate person. He doesn't have any issues with his position in every performance assigned to the group he belonged. Sho really has soothing voice. It shows that he is very kind, soft spoken and humble person. He even teaches his members become more humble n kind to other people. At first, it's very hard for him to lead the members. Even though they have experience members, but they respect Sho as their leader. JO1 is really respect n consider each other. Because they're not artist before, so they're very understanding each other. They work hard every day so that they're become one of top artist not only in Japan but to the world.

For those who are confused... JO1 is a Japanese group, however their company is half Japanese (in charge of promotion) and half Korean (in charge of production), so they can look similar to kpop groups. But "similar" does not mean that they are the same, they integrate elements of jpop in their music, dance and aesthetics so it would be more accurate to say that they are a fusion of both genres ^^

Genuinely impressed by Sho's English. It is obviously not fluent or native sounding, but it was clearly enunciated and didn't leave out anything needed to understand what he was saying. A solid 7/10, which is better than I'd give some native speakers tbh.

Agree! And pronunciation aside, the way he carries himself when speaking is very good! His grammar isn’t broken at all and he sounds confident enough to make comprehensive sentences. You can tell he’s been studying the language for a while and he really tries to immerse himself in the language (for example in the way he reads english articles in his free time). I’d say hes proficient enough to carry basic conversation and speak candidly. Truly a bright leader!

good to read these comments from you guys! as a japanese who uses english at work, i have felt a bit nervous and even uncomfortable to hear him speak english. it would be best if he becomes more fluent, but from what you guys wrote, i understood his sincere attitude impresses information, ah excuse me, international fans. thank you.

@@_s_u_k_a_r_i_ As a bilingual myself, one thing I always keep in mind is that accents shouldn’t be something to be conscious about. If anything, having an accent is a sign that they learned the language in a non-fluent country. I think it is very admirable since it means they didn’t learn the language through first-hand experience but from rigorous studying, which is much more challenging!
