It has been a long while. I WAS going to uni to become a registered nurse and i completed it at the end of 2021!
This is my confidential safe video of my day at work. You miss seeing alot of what i actually do with the residents purely because its not appropriate. You miss the assessments, the phone calls to family and Doctors. You miss the jokes and messing around i do purely because i can't show it. Hope you enjoy anyway!

One of the hardest job in Australia, comparing to accounting, engineering, IT, even to hotel service, Aged care nursing is just too hard, IT programmers in entry level could receive 100 dollars per hour, but new RN in aged care could only receive 30-40 dollars per hour with 10 times more workload than IT!

hi, thank you for showing us what would be like working there. I was wondering, do you guys get free food for your meals each shift? Does aged care homes offer free food for all staff? Thanks!

Sometimes they do, if we would do a double shift we could ask for a meal or they would give us an extra $30 for meal allowance. As care staff the kitchen gave us left over from the meals but not as the registered nurse - that was just my facility though, they might in others

In aged care you could work as little or as much as you wanted. most of the time it will be ALOT if you are available. I was earning $70K per year, but i was monday to friday, all morning shifts. You could get alot more working the weekends.

Yes we do! Honestly having an AIN in a shift either makes or breaks it!! They are amazing!

But In saying that, we do most of the personal cares for our patients, showers etc, AINs on my ward are there for extra support, more hands for rolling patients etc

@@raisingbatkids3358 well that's not fair that a RN with a degree have to do these kind of tasks like cleaning patients, bathing etc.. in Europe things work differently. Health care assistants deal with basic care, and nurses are nurses! Of course if they need some help with give them a hand.

It was really hard, but it took some late nights with coffee and just forcing myself to sit and do some work when i had a spare minute! I took the kids to parks and took my ipad, i worked after they had gone to bed. I also worked full time so it would have been easier without working as well but money for bills so needed to work haha. You will definitely find the time somewhere! Good luck x
