Heyy Marcus I got into Geomatics in UW but i was wondering if it’s possible to transfer into Geography and Aviation :)
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 2 ай бұрын
Heyy! Congrats on your offer! I'm not entirely sure but I have friends who transferred to aviation from other programs in UW. I think as long as your credits are transferrable plus if you're okay to retake the aviation courses that you missed then I think it's doable. However, don't quote on me and make sure you talk to your academic advisor about your transfer if you happen to accept this offer ;)

can you also make a video on the grades u had in ur high school report card that got u in this program, the AIF as well I want to get in to science and aviation but I think the requirements are similar.
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 3 ай бұрын
Hmm I think it would be quite challenging to make a video about my high school grades and how to fill in the AIF. However, this website: uwaterloo.ca/future-students/missing-manual/applying/everything-you-need-know-about-waterloos-admission does a pretty good job explaining what you should put on the form. Also, there is actually a slight difference in the requirements between Geo&Aviation and Science&Aviation, FYI: uwaterloo.ca/future-students/programs/science-and-aviation covers the specific requirements for science&aviation. Good luck with your studies and I hope to see you at Waterloo in the future!

hi one question. If you want to be a pilot and want to do uni so for this route u have to pay for uni and ppl?
@pilotmarcus

This university program allows you to get your pilot licenses and your bachelor degree when you graduate, and yes you would have to pay for both your university degree and the flight training.

Hey, I like to see ur video! As u know that, it’s time to go uni for G12 student and I have few questions. Currently, I got all offer from aviation programs in various uni and now, I need to consider which uni should I go. I’m considering western commercial aviation management(flight option) or waterloo geo or sci & aviation program. My question is, what makes you to go geo & aviation program rather than other uni aviation program and what is the advantage of geo & aviation?
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 3 ай бұрын
Congrats on your offer! I chose Geo& Aviation simply because I love Geography more than business management or science. Also, uWaterloo is closer to where I live compared to Western. The Aviation part in both science and geo in uWaterloo is exactly the same, so it totally depends on which one you would like to study if you choose Waterloo in the end. In my opinion, the advantage of choosing Geo over Science is that the courses that you will take just 'slightly' overlap with what you learn in flight school (specifically meteorology), but of course, everyone will have different opinions on which program is better so make sure you do extensive research before accepting the offer. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions!

@@pilotmarcus Thank you so much for your comment! That helped a lot to me. I still have time so I'll trying to figure it out soon but, there's a high chance I'm going to western because of scholarship, campus life, back-up option (MBA). Have a safe flight!

Do you get any breaks during school?
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus Ай бұрын
It depends on your class schedule. University students (except for engineering) don't have classes from 8-5 for the whole week. And even if you have back to back classes in the same day, you still get to have a 10 minute break before the next class (and lunchtime if it's at noon).

Hİ Marcus! I was wondering how did you get into University of waterloo as an International student . I'm from Turkey and next year I want to get into University of Waterloo.
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus Ай бұрын
Hello! So I'm actually a local student, but I believe all local and international students apply through OUAC, which is a portal to apply to all universities in Ontario and uWaterloo is one of them. Just state that you are an international student and follow the required steps. You also have to take IELTS, which is an English assessment exam for university application and you gotta submit your IELTS grades through OUAC. However, I am not entirely sure about the specific process, so I'd recommend you to reach out to your school for the application :) looking forward to seeing you in Waterloo soon!

@@pilotmarcusin your opinion how competitive is this program? Is it as competitive as some popular programs like engineering or is it less competitive?
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 6 ай бұрын
This program is fairly competitive. I'm not sure how competitive it is compared with engineering programs but expect the average grades of applicants to be a few percentages higher than the required grades, so around high 80s to low 90s. I hope that gives you an idea about how competitive the program is.@@eric.j.24

hey! could you please guide me on how to finance this program. Are you paying out of pocket or did you take loans? Also how much can scholarships help?
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 2 ай бұрын
Hey! That's a great question (we all know that flight training is expensive...). Currently, about half of the cost is paid out of my pocket and the other half is by using OSAP loans (even though you couldn't apply OSAP for your flight training, you can apply through your academics through Waterloo, and since the OSAP money is flexible in where you use it, you can fund a part of your flight training with this money) (moreover, some banks provide student line-of-credit for your flight training, but pay attention to their interest rates). Usually, the scholarship that most incoming first-years will get is the entrance scholarship & the academic scholarship if your grade 12 score is high enough which totals around $3,000 CAD, which is only able to cover ~90% of your tuition in your first semester in your first year. However, there are other scholarships you can apply for yourself through the scholarship portal, and sometimes our flight centre provides opportunities for scholarships as well. Therefore, the amount you get depends on how many scholarships you applied for, and potentially fund a part of your flight training with them. I apologize for the long text HAHA but I hope that answers your question!
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus 2 ай бұрын
ALSO, there are tons of opportunity on campus that allows you to save up some money for the cost of this program! For example campus jobs like resident dons and front-desk-assistants. I got selected for a residence don and this job allows me to live on campus housing at no cost. If I work in this position until I graduate, I could save up to around $30,000! The point is, there are different ways at this university to save money for this program!
@vinniol__
@vinniol__ 2 ай бұрын
@@pilotmarcus Oh! Thanks for that! Are there too many candidates for a resident don and are multiple candidates selected!
@pilotmarcus
@pilotmarcus Ай бұрын
@@vinniol__ Usually there'll be a couple of spots open each semester, and the number of applications varies each time, so it is actually quite a competitive position... but of course, you can find other ways such as part-time to save up some money for flight training if donning is not your thing which is pretty common for aviation students!
