This was a nice vlog. My time in grade school was miserable for various reasons, and even at the ripe old age of 19 I still haven't made peace with the past. Your class looks vibrant and joyful as a child's environment should be. Having watched your vlog, I feel melancholy. I'm reminded that I could've been happy in a school that was as pleasant as yours looks, but wasn't. My regret is that I'll never be able to reminisce about my childhood like others seem to do. It saddens me further to think that some of these kids are either experiencing the same depression I've experienced, or lack the perspective to appreciate their blessings. But again, nice video! And bless you for being a teacher

Thanks for sharing about your grade school journey. I'm so sorry it wasn't a pleasant experience for you. We have to take the good with the bad and look for the silver lining. Thanks for all the kind words about the classroom. I didn't think I had the best physical classroom the past couple of years being in a portable so I tried very hard to still make it colorful and really focused on creating a classroom community where children feel safe and welcomed. I feel for you and I truly hope you can find peace sooner rather than later. Please take care and keep in touch!

Hey Roderick! Every school year comes with it's challenges and victories. This year was my first year in 2nd grade so eventhough it's my 9th year teaching, I still had a learning curve. But thankful nonetheless. CONGRATS to You for wrapping up your 1st year! That's a big deal! Proud of you :)

And thank you for checking out my video! That's so awesome that you're taking courses to move into teaching. And about challenges? Wow, where do I start? From the pay, testing pressure, to lack of resources for your classroom and lack of support from people who are suppose to be advocating for the children and so on and so forth. For me, it's knowing your purpose (love of children and teaching), being flexible, and having a positive attitude. Attitude trumps talent some times. Hope that helps a bit!

Hello, my name is Loghman, I am a teacher and I live in Iran. I have an 8-year-old son whom I teach English myself. He does not show me his homework and does not accept me as his teacher. The teacher should talk to him and encourage him. I am a physics teacher myself. And I'm glad to meet one of my colleagues in America. Thank you very much, Loghman

Hi Loghman, thanks for reaching out. Have you tried contacting your son's teacher for a parent-teacher conference? I recommend starting there to address your concern. Tell his teacher that you would like for your son to receive more feedback on his classwork and homework.

Hello Ma'am Grace, it looks that you have a good classroom management. Can you give me some tips? :) Thank you so much.
@GracejoyTV2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I think good classroom management starts with building trust and relationship with your students. Find out what they like, ask about what books they're interested in, what sports or music they are into, ask about their family and siblings. You can do some sort of an Interest Survey to gather this data at the beginning of the school year. Students can tell when you are genuinely interested in helping them :)

Hi Antonio. When I was an elementary teacher, I taught majority of the subjects: English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students had separate teachers for Music, Art, and P.E. It was challenging but that's part of teaching in elementary!

Why did they take hand behind the back? Sorry for my english. I,m from Ukraine.🌻
@GracejoyTV5 жыл бұрын
Good question. Younger children tend to have their hands everywhere, they wave their hands, and touch other kids. So a good rule that many teachers use when lining up the class is that students must put their hands behind their back (or pockets) It helps them not accidentally hit objects or other students on the way to lunch, library, cafeteria, etc. Hope I answered your question!

I would like to ask few questions, can I become an elementary teacher with early child education degree? Or would it better to major in education but did not get accepted to elementary education but only in second language education degree. I want to know which way would be the best way to get where you are, thanks for your time!!
@GracejoyTV3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jenny, thanks for the questions. From what I know, Early Childhood Ed is Kinder thru 3rd grade so yes you can be an elementary teacher with that. I knew teacher friends who had the early child ed degree who preferred to teach nothing above 3rd grade because they prefer the little ones better. My undergrad degree was in Special Ed which from the university I got it from, when you get you your Special Ed, you are also Elementary Ed certified which was definitely a bonus. I hope that helps you a little.
