In this video I will take you through a day in our lives on a typical Sunday as we get started with our school day, enjoy a delicious lunch, and spend the afternoon together as a family enjoying our science subscription boxes, and then move into the evening with dinner and an evening walk before winding down for bedtime.

I think every mom goes through the ‘cereal phase’ at least once in life! Sometimes it is what it is! We eat lots of breakfast for dinner because we love breakfast foods but during the week we hardly ever have time in the morning.

I found your channel and I simply can’t get enough. I’ve been wanting to convert for over 25 years. I don’t know how to approach the rabbi at our local Shul. We have a very small Shul where I live. It is a sister Shul of the Tree of Life in Pittsburgh PA. It is the one where a mass shooting occurred during a service. I’ve been studying the Torah for years, I have learned the holidays and we celebrate as I’m able with my knowledge. Your videos are helping me learn so much. I’ve even chosen my own Hebrew name, Hadassah, years ago. It’s the original name of Ester and the meaning behind it. What would happen if my husband and I show up to a service? I’d feel so out of place and won’t know what to do and expect. It’s a Reformed community. I live in WV and it’s hard to find a place to go and I’m so introverted and awkward as you can tell by this comment. 😂😂

I’ve watched your conversation story several times. When my husband and I left the Christian church 5 years ago we left for two reasons: I have a poor view of the hatred out of the evangelical Christian church and it’s members. The second, when we left the church I had been being sexually harassed by the pastor. The “pastor” and his church have openly referred to me as being unfaithful to my husband. It’s been hard to work through that and this “pastor” is friends with the local Rabbi and I’m terrified this “pastor” will lie to the Rabbi as he and his church have for 5 years and it will affect my acceptance by the Rabbi and congregation. It’s a scary and intimidating thought of trusting because at some point I’ll have to tell the Rabbi. I don’t know why I just told you all of that 😂😂 I’ve watched so many of your videos it feels like you’re a friend.

Enjoyed spending the day with you and your family. I set up my hs day the night before and as organized and calm as it looks, it rarely is. I have discovered letting J pick the order of the lessons has made our day so much smoother. I think he likes the feeling of control it gives him. I write out the list of the subjects we need to cover each day and mark them off as we complete them. Have a blessed week.

I love those science/STEM activity kits. I have always loved science especially biology and chemistry and when I was young there were no such resources for my parents to help me learn and support my passion. And I totally get your son having science as their favourite subject when it means to build cool stuff like that race car!

The Kosher food that you prepare is fantastic! You are providing an optimum education for your children. You are very fortunate that you converted. There are people who are disabled and isolated who couldn't do so. Please try to make a video on how you recommend how to live and how to deal with Judaism and Jewish issues who can't convert. Hi! Baby F is getting so big, playing with his toys! I absolutely agree that learning life skills, including housework is a vital part of a good education, for boys and girls alike. That experiment was so cool! He was basically burning sugar and baking soda if I’m remembering correctly and it forms a sort of snake shape as it burns. Really really neat!

Hi Chana! I laughed at the "Festivus" sandwich..yummy! I'm old enough to have seen all the "Seinfeld" episodes, including the hilarious "Festivus", but, I don't know anything about such a sandwich. We used Ambleside Online with our kids who are now 30 and 28. We loved it. We did adjust a little bit but I don’t know too many homeschoolers who don’t tweak their curricula. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it and what tweaks you made to make it work for you!

I have been reading Charlotte Mason's volumes for the last 2 years, hoping to home school Miss Iris. I have learnt so much about my own learning and that I must never underestimate a child and their person and abilities. It really has been an eye opener and so refreshing. That is why when I came across your channel, it resonated with me - and other reasons too. I already do quite a few CM things with Iris and we spend a lot of time outdoors and at the library and art gallery. But, my own sense of wonder and curiosity has been re awakened with all the time I spend with her. Nature, art and books are our big focus and so I will be following along to see how the new AO work goes for your family. I would do your ironing Chana. I love doing it and being in the Navy, I learnt to love it even more!

You had a busy day!!! Those science experiments looked fun! Fire?? 🔥, yeah, kids will love that! 😂😂😂 I homeschooled for K-2 (half of 2nd). I think choosing the curriculum is one of the hardest things. Like you, I’d get into it for a while and realize it wasn’t working. I had no idea what I was doing. Had no support. No groups around my area. Very lonely and difficult. Had to quit. But my kids are doing good in school and was a better fit for us. But I LOVE the concept of homeschooling!!

I am a teacher…I take a beachball…I write numbers on the ball…I start by throwing the ball to a student…where their thumbs land on they (depending on the age)…the have (add,subtract,multiply or divide) the numbers…once they get the fact correct they throw the ball to someone else.

Sorry to pry. I live in Brooklyn NY so to me it is strange. Homeschooling is definitely beautiful and the loving lunches that you prepare for your kids. But I see that you have a son what will you do when he grows older and will have to go to higher learning Like Gemara mishnayos etc. Just curious how it works. I give you a lot of credit you are doing an amazing job Homeschooling though.

Hello Yaffa. Those are excellent questions. My son is already learning Gemara. As well as Mishna, Halacha, Chumash and Hebrew. While we don’t show everything that we do in these videos, it is definitely there and being done.

Texas weather is crazy :) It’ll be in the 30s one morning and a high of 80 the next day lol That’s basically what’s happening here right now

Another question ❓ for you... When you do your morning hand washing ritual, I noticed that you don't use soap. Is soap not part of the ritual? Throughout your day do you ever just wash your hands with soap and without using the cup or is the cup an integral part of every hand washing? Personally as a non Jew, I wash my hands a lot during the day and if I'm not using soap, I use dish liquid.

Hello Maureen! The handwashing is a ritual washing of the hands and not intended to clean dirt or germs. We are required to have cleans hands when we do it, so we wash our hands with soap before hand. I talk more about it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqHdip6oj62nsLc

Just out of curiosity, if something happens and people were supposed to come for Shabbat, but aren't going to make it, do they just not show up and call after Shabbat is over, or one person runs over real quick to let you know, or ???

Hi Jodi! Yes, men are obligated to go to services together. Women do not have that obligation so we often stay home during the week, but we could absolutely come anytime:)

I homeschool for many reasons. One is that I can give my kids a broader and deeper education at home than they could if I outsourced their education to a school

Has any of your children ever struggled in a certain subject and do you ever get frustrated teaching? I mean you do have a lot going on.

Sure! My kids excel in some areas and find others challenging same as any other kid :) the difference is I get to meet them where they are at and give them the extra attention or shift teaching methods for the challenges and present deeper learning opportunities for the areas they are more skilled in. And yes of course I get frustrated sometimes but I try my best not too :) teaching isn’t easy especially when you’re juggling so many subjects and grades :)
