you have so much to learn. It's not just technicals. Fundamental are called Fundamentals for a reason. You need to read the data to know where price is going to go. Technicals and the Chart data are meant for entry timing.
@jonahanderson62482 ай бұрын
Interesting take, out of all the profitable traders that I listen to not one of them ever talks about fundamentals playing a role in their trading. They only care about what time the news is coming out. If it works for you, then great.

@jonahanderson6248 another thing I want you to know is that, yes, the market will have its immediate reaction to any news that comes out. What most people don't understand is that price will continue in the same direction until more data comes out that contradicts the previous data or aligns with it. I'm going to tell you this out of respect, but don't be ignorant. Don't say "If it work's for you, then great" because that, itself, is a naive way of thinking. I want you to understand that what I told you is objectively true, and if you backtest that data you will see how it is. You will find more consistency if you know this.

It wasnt a bad trade, if you look on the chart now, you got stopped out on the last candle before the pump. I would just wait for a confirmation on the OB or whatever you use to enter, so something like a doji or engulfing, just to be safe and aviod situations like this. Otherwise maybe just go a timeframe up to 15m so the moves are slower and the bottoms are more predictable.

Bro I have realized something. You have so much emotions and you let a loss get in your head easily. You need to embrace that loss. I am profitable with a 40% win rate. That tells you that I LOSE a lot. But I came to term with that. It will definitely take sometime for you to train your head. I used to be like you and get frustrated so easily. Losses are inevitable, I remember one day having a streak of losses of over 15 losses in a row, but what’s important is keeping your losses small, and your winners big. Ended up regaining all these losses and still ended up with a lot of profit off one trade. Also as a last point, this is just a personal opinion. I like the discipline of you walking away when you lose 2-3 trades in a row or when you win like a trade or two. But I think you need to trade more, people tell you to not over trade but they forget to tell you about the amount of trades you’re missing on by just not trading. I believe you should take more trades because I believe that you take a loss or two or even three in a row and then miss out on the fourth trade which could be a winner. So trade more, don’t revenge trade but trade more. Trade YOUR system when it gives you every opportunity and checks your rules is what I’m trying to say. So key points to take away from this: 1. Keep your losses small and your winners big. 2. It’s OKAY to lose, just don’t get frustrated and keep your head in check and take the next trade so work on your Phycology. 3. Trade your system and every opportunity it gives you. If you have back tested your system and it has a 40% win rate and risk to reward of 1 to 2 then you are PROFITABLE. So trade every opportunity you get with your system. Good luck brother, you will make it.

The trading environment lately has been way less than ideal unless you’re very experienced imo. It’s hard to even have a sense of when data will drive a trend beyond a few min or hours. I don’t trade futures but monitor levels there when I take ETF or stock trades and it has been so much barcode or whipsaw it mostly makes me default away from directional trades and even sit in cash. Credit spreads have been my most consistent winners the last few weeks, but not sure if there is any futures equivalent. Super dull for me but it worked. You likely know better than I do, but it’s a lot of probabilities and risk management- losing trades will always happen, but keep the proper risk management, ethic, and mentality and you’re already “profitable”, you just need time and it will play out.
@jonahanderson62482 ай бұрын
Thanks for this detailed advice, the summer months are typically harder in general. I've learned about credit spreads and options strats like that in the past, I might look more into them in the future. One thing I don't understand about credit spreads is risk management. Is your stop loss the whole max loss, or do you exit based on the chart?
@andrewb43922 ай бұрын
@@jonahanderson6248 I hope my phrasing doesn’t come across the wrong way- I’m not good enough to advise, just mostly want to encourage you since I see a lot of good habits from the video. Sometimes I feel just as unprofitable when the probabilities come against me, but I think your habits are better! I haven’t been using credit spreads for long although some content from SMB Capital was helpful. So far I see that when the size, entry, and conditions look correct then it almost does not matter risking max loss vs exiting based on chart for this strat. That said, if I get the entry wrong, especially too late then I shouldn’t be afraid to exit early or hedge. I think different brokers and different timeframes could totally change the approach though as I’m often doing 0DTE on RH, so mostly between 10-3 ET.

Problem why so many retail traders dont get profitable is the following: You only learn technicals. No one learns macro economics to understand whats really going on. Everyone can draw lines and boxes on the charts. A combination of both is crucial. Do you guys really think that Hedgefund or investmentbankers draw nice things on their charts?

At the end of the video, we can see you getting emotional about losing. Losing is part of trading. Thats why it is important in trading to have realistic expectations of your system. Have you back tested your strategy for several years? Is your strategy 100% mechanical? You have over a 40% win rate, thats similar to me but my wins are much bigger, which makes up for my losers. Back testing is key to developing confidence in your system. Back testing will also give you insight into your system, like how many loses you can expect in a row as you will inevitably have a losing streak. I think you need more confidence in what you are doing and the only way to do that is go way back in the chart and make sure your system works long term. Keep at it though, remember you are trying to win at a game that 95% lose.
