i swam against Rowdy in Lehigh circa 2006 in summer camp. One of my favorite memories. He beat all of us 13-14s at the camp in the 50 free, over and over again! He even swam backstroke half the time. Rowdy is a legend! Love his commentary so much!

People can say what they want about his (admittedly noticeable) bias; Rowdy Gaines is one of the best things to ever happen to the sport of swimming. The sport needs his voice

I am Canadian, Elliotte Friedman was the commentator for CBC Sports doing the 200IM. He is an excellent hockey analyst and reporter, I guess they were running out of bodies and thought commentating a liquid water sport was a natural progression from a frozen water sport. Regarding Rowdy - I ALWAYS watch and prefer Rowdy vs any other Olympic swimming coverage - what an awesome, long term ambassador for the sport!

Well, Caeleb sure does make Rowdy’s prediction game a lot easier. Rowdy set my high school pool record in the 50...20.3 in 1983. Riverside Brookfield High School, Riverside Illinois. Dave Navarro got Rowdy to come in and talk to our team, in turn for our coach giving him a passing grade in PE swimming. Dave is now a judge here in Chicago. Great memories.

Rowdy is an awesome guy. I had an opportunity to have dual Masters meets in Hawaii at Oahu county club...my team was happy and had an opportunity to meet one of the icon in Swimming...(by the way- it’s Alfie)
