I've never been to Napa but live in Wine Country on Long Island, NY, it's basically all vineyards now a days but we sadly don't get mustard, too cold I guess! They're still pretty to see amongst our tall leafless trees though we don't have your beautiful mountains and hills either, I think I prefer Napa! Loved seeing the bathroom redo too, very exciting :)

When it's cold here I like to cook anything in the oven, so plenty of roasted meats and veggies! Warms the house and feeds us all in one. Soups are another easy cozy meal with a loaf of bread on the side for dunking. Thanks for sharing your time with us Lauren! You motivate me!

There is something downright therapeutic about watching you cook. So relaxing. The bathroom is gorgeous, I'm glad it's finally coming together for you, One of my favorite winter time foods is homemade chicken noodles. My first mother -in-law used to make it for me for my birthday, along with a chocolate cherry cake (chocolate covered cherries are my favorite candy). Sadly, she's gone now, but it's a favorite memory.

My goodness Lauren your so busy. I don't know how you managed to fit in what you do in a day, your like flipping wonder woman or something. But looking after yourself I agree with that, you've got to take time out for yourself even if you can only spare 10 mins, you can do a mini facial in that time and feel a million times better, and you've shown quite clearly in your videos mum's do every thing for everyone else but themselves, so we deserve that 10 mins, don't we. And what a lovely dinner you prepared, a proper home cooked pie, just lovely, and to even prepare one for someone else while you were at it, do you never stop, you'll be growing wings if you carry on. And your home itself, I've often wondered, you must have help with the daily cleaning, please don't tell me you do all that as well. Meatloaf With Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans with an apple pie for dessert. Pot Roast with Celery, potatoes, carrots, onions and mushrooms with a homemade gravy. Perfect meals in the winter months. 😊

We enjoy beef stew iin the winter months. I have a wonderful recipe which uses carrots, onion, lima beans and those tiny potatoes flavored with brown sugar and other spices. I make enough for two meals; so, we can freeze one half and that gives me a break from cooking when I have a really busy day and get home late!

Your winery is beautiful, I love Napa Valley, its so gorgeous. I have never made a chicken pot pie, I now need to make one. My winter dinner staples are : pot roast with roasted veggies, loaded potato soup, chicken and dumplings, clam chowder, french onion soup, chili.

Chicken a la toscana is my new favourite and it can be cooked in the crockpot, so dinner's ready with no complications. What's not to love with a cream sauce made with wine, tomato pesto, capers, basil and why not, prosciutto pieces added at the end.

Lauren I always liked the few hours at the end of the evening. When the house is locked down, children are in bed, its just quiet and peaceful to get things done. I do a lot of thinking and problem solving in those few hours in the evening before doing my nightime care routine. And its always such a wonderful feeling to finally get into bed knowing things are done and in their place in the home for the night. Ready to start a new day in the morning. Thanks Lauren, what a great video. I'm in awe by how productive you are. I love making ratatouille this time of year. Forgive me if that's already a staple for you, I watch a couple of channels that feature recipes and don't recall. I love the traditional way of sautéing each veggie by itself, then adding it to the pot. I do veer away from traditional and add chicken or sausage... I know. That's the only way to get my husband to eat it 🤷‍♀️

For winter suppers I like making pasta fagioli soup; my husband makes the best chili ever. We also do homemade pizzas, panini sandwiches with tomato soup. These help us survive cold Missouri winters!

One of our favorites in the winter is sausage and rice. In the insta pot I use brown rice and use chicken broth instead of water but keep the same ratio to rice that I would with water. I dice up skinless cheddar smoked sausage. Once the rice is finished I let the steam out, add the sausage and mix it all up and keep it covered to steam the sausage a little and then it's ready. The broth adds so much flavor we don't even add any seasonings. It's super simple, not the most healthy but delicious 😋

I agree with on the meal prep. I have tried several times to meal prep for a week at a time. It never worked for me because invariably our schedules would change and we ended up wasting food. From MA after a foot of snow this weekend. We do things like chili, turkey meatloaf, stuffed peppers, homemade spaghetti sauce and chicken store fry or sheet pan. Lauren, I discovered wrist towels on AMAzon. I have a pair in the kitchen and my bathroom sink area. You put them on when you wash dishes and your face and the water doesn’t fall down your arms wetting your clothes! I gave them to my friends and they love them. A total Game changer, for sure!!!!!!!
