I'm committing to St. John's, and I'm moving from Missouri. Would you say that I need a car there? I don't have one now, and I am not sure if I need to get one before moving.

I live in nyc and have been around campus. A car isn’t really necessary considering our public transportation system. The fare is $2.75 and you can use it to get literally anywhere (bus and train)

Hi! I'm from Texas and I promise you a car is not necessary. First, off parking passes can be expensive so a lot of students find street parking but obviously, your car won't be protected. Also, public transportation is so much easier and safer if you're not used to driving in New York.

Hey I’m a prospective student who is considering St. John’s, is it close to the city? Like near Manhattan? Cause I’d like to work in the city during my time at college.

Hi! It really depends, it is quicker to drive to the city, about 15 to 20 min. However, I use public transportation and it takes about 40 minutes. That sounds like a long time but honestly, it's really not that bad. I know a lot of people who do the commute and say it's not bad at all.

Hey Caly, you look soo pretty.❤ And I just got accepted at SJU and I really am excited to join soon but I was wondering that it's a Catholic uni ofcourse, so do they force religion on everyone like how's the environment around coz I'm pretty much a non believer so that would be a little unsettling if yk what I mean?!😅

Hello! I can understander where you are coming from. You are required 3 semesters of theology. Now, one course does have to be Christianity (usually that is ur first class) but I believe you can do the other two courses on any other religion the school has to offer, so you can learn about those cultures. I have only taken one semester of Christianity and their are less than 10 Catholics/ Christians in the class. I am lucky that my professor understands that not everyone believes or has their own faith so we have a lot of open discussions. Personally, the university does not force anyone to go to mass or participate in religious events. Yes, everyone is required to learn about Christianity, but if you take in the aspect of learning about it like a history class you will be fine. I've also never heard my friends say a professor has forced religion on them.

Hi, the career services at SJU is pretty great. They would be able to help out with after grad opportunities. Besides SJU is well known throughout the city so you should be in good hands!

It's hard to find info on the St. Johns website. -Do they have dorms. Is there any kind of campus community life? Do most of the people you know like it there?

Hello! Yes there are dorms I actually have a dorm tour posted on my Chanel so feel free to check that out! Now I will say there is campus life and things todo but there are a lot of commuters as well so campus life is not hudgeeee but it is there. The people I know truly do love it here! So, a lot of people commute to campus. AND I MEAN THE MAJORITY. Also, If you are really interested in SJU I recommend getting in contact with the undergrad department or financial department and seeing about scholarships because they give out a lot.

@@Viviennesgirlxo It's not that bad. You become close with a lot of people because not a lot of people dorm. We still all have a good time and a lot of us have our commuter friends spend the night. I do wish more people dormed because on weekends the campus can feel dead but you make it up by going into the city with your friends.
