I remember once my sister "parented" someone elses kid, because their parent wasn't doing anything to stop them from being obnoxious (and they were well within the age where they would know better, etc). When the lady said "don't parent my kid!!!" and my sister goes "I wouldn't have to, if you did"

As a Mom of many kids thank you for sharing that wisdom with that mom and her kid! We travel out west a couple times a year and rv and I am always anxious about our kids doing something that affects others time outdoors and nature… for instance “crack the crust” which is a huge Moab saying, we learned and repeat 😂 Moab is one of our favorite places ( love it so much broke my ankle there lol 😂) but honestly thank you for helping… you obviously know so very much how about the areas you stay in and around and while one of the reasons myself , hubby and my kids enjoy your content! So sorry about that mama’s attitude, it’s one thing to offer advice when someone’s just mad at people having kids there which honestly, I thankfully haven’t experienced lol …it’s quite another when someone is willing to educate and support you and your kid by teaching and sharing why and how to respect outdoor spaces. Rant over lol! Have a blessed day!

$8.00 (& a free water tank fill) after seven days w/no shower? I would have paid $20.00! Speaking of that parent's attitude, I ran into a similar situation down at the mall in D.C. where there were a few kids were throwing rocks at a squirrel. I waited for a few heartbeats to see if any of the nearby adults were going to say something, but they didn't. I was pretty far away so I admit that my shout of "HEY! DON'T DO THAT!" was a tad on the loud side, but the adults looked at me like _I_ was the one doing something inappropriate. The kids stopped, tho, so goal achieved!

At one place in the UP, somebody left their pack and a mess of water bottles and snack wrappers. I checked the area for who it might have belonged to, and nobody was around. I picked up the mess and also took the pack as my pay for having to clean things up. It gave me plenty of water for the trip, sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks. It also had a bunch of the bullfrog game cartridges in it that one of my coworkers kids could use. The pack has now become my vehicle bug out survival kit for if I have to hoof it for help. I would have told that kid, "If you carve your name in that rock, I'm going to carve my name on you!" Yeah, I'm dark like that, but it does get the point across!

Good on you for respectfully talking to the boy. I hope someday he looks back on the situation and recognizes which adult was behaving appropriately in that moment. It's always so hard to see people trashing the outdoors, which I see constantly as a truck driver. It just kills me! Long drives are incredibly exhausting! Good job knocking that out. I think the lack of movement/ blood flow is what tires me the most, along with having to focus while driving a large vehicle with people seeming to fight me all the time. I really hit a wall today, on the tail end of my 70-hour workweek!! Sometimes, you just need to pull into a rest area and close your eyes for 15 minutes, and/ or walk around ... both of those things make a world of difference!! It took me a long time to develop my endurance as a driver. The most I've driven in one day was around 690 miles, in a truck that maxed out at 70mph. These days, my truck maxes out at 66 and I cover around 500 miles on my longer driving days. It definitely leaves my brain and body feeling fried!!😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Great video as always!! Hope the van will be A-okay, ASAP!❤

11:01 - Holy hell, as a parent, my issues were never with the kids, it was with their entitled parents and I've had more than one exchange almost exactly like this with having to school adults on how to be a decent human being. What's with people? When they pull the "Don't tell me how to parent my kid." my response was usually along the lines that if they were doing their job, I wouldn't have to.

Alot of national park campgrounds have Jr Park Ranger badges for kids to earn. I bring my kids to the park rangers office on site and they give each kid a workbook with information on the area, no trace ethics, about the wild life; some good and what ones to look out for; preservation methods, safety tricks etc. The kids have to do the whole book and then when they complete it bring it back to the park rangers office. The rangers will sign off on their hard work and give them an official Jr park ranger patch (they're all very cool, different for each place and nice quality too!) My kids have been collecting them, and are so proud of their patches. Some state parks don't really advertise that they do this, but it's a nationwide project going on to get kids interested in protecting nature. Dropping this here for my fellow adventurers around kids 👍👍✌️

Another great video. Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. That’s how I was taught and I always try to help others realise why this makes sense. Keep up the great work ❤

You should go under and look to see the fluid dripping not the top and put cardboard under to see what it is it works .

I was skiing in Bulgaria last year and a bunch of English kids started pushing into the queue, which being 40 mins long was no joke. After it had happened a few times, as an Englishmen I couldn't let it slide and sent the kids to the back of the queue. One kid (10 year old) sat down on the spot and cried, the others went to the back. There was quite a silence after that but a general acceptance of a wrong being righted. People should be able to disagree and for it not to be a big thing. I did spend the rest of the holiday worrying about getting chased by an angry father or two, but there was no need as it was fine. Just thought I'd share that story as I have enjoyed so many of yours. Hello from England. Ever thought about a road trip over here?

Hi Nikki; I would have told the mother of the kid, raising my voice to the highest possible volume and not caring what anyone else thought about it,"WELL SOMEONE'S GOT TO DO IT, BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT DOING A VERY GOOD JOB OF RAISING YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN"!😁😸😹

Sadly if the mum reacts like that, then the kids don't have much of a chance if that's who is raising them. Well done for speaking up!

Re that outraged mother: Some people think that the ultimate expression of freedom is in being an outlaw. You and I don't share that notion, but history shows we repeatedly laud the efforts of gangsters, not just here in the US, but all over the planet. A flaw in our otherwise perfect human nature. On my one trip to Colorado, I flew to Denver from LA to pick up a Dutch TV crew and schlep them out to Beaver Creek for an interview with President Ford and his wife. I remember a sign at the resort near the Ford house that said: "Take nothing but photographs. Leave nothing but footprints." All the best to Regal Camper and Court Jester Rodney. And to the Queen of the Road.

I 100% would've told her "I wouldn't have to parent your kid if you were already doing it". I've already said that while working retail. Btw I'm a mom of 2

Camper likes to look out ahead to see the horizon, "Where we gonna go Momma Bear?" Rodney puts his paws up on the dash board and stretches, and stays arms length close enough to get some snacks. My dogs used to do that too, they both lay comfortable for them, and I bend like a pretzel to accommodate. But we slept through the night. Dogs make us better people.💜🐕🐕💜 Take Care Nikki , I traveled alot in the Air Force enlisted during 14 years, Arizona, Death Valley California, Miami, Sicily, England, Egypt, & Arabia. I miss going places...But it was fun...

One challenge is that Mercedes only has 400 US service centers, so you'll need to learn to crawl under your rig and troubleshoot components yourself, if you continue traveling off pavement. Time to raise you're MQ- mechanical quotient. An active sports life is easier with high MQ, since it always requires gear. Thumbs up on protecting natural attractions and having the courage to coach young people when misbehaving in public. I've had to coach old people even, at Arches NP. Keeping Nature natural, is "all of our's business".

I've stopped several people from marking, drawing, graffiti spraying on places where it's illegal. People have gradually become insanely aggressive when they are on the spot. I'm thankfully not easy to get scared.

I’m getting accustomed to making coffee before watching your videos! I like little routines sometimes. 😂 I’m sorry you had to parent the parent, and I really hope that kid learned something smart from you and not to play the outrage card from the mother. “It takes a village to raise a child” is a saying for a reason! 🤣 I pray your van troubles are few and far between and don’t cause any damage to you, your boys, or your home! Lots of miles behind you, a lifetime of adventure to go! Safe travels! 💚

Nikki be extra safe when your dogs enter ponds and lakes. Some of them may have very toxic levels for dogs and they could die the same day after exposure to toxins. Even some algae can be very toxic. Stay safe.❤❤
