I'll add that its never a good idea to go off-road in an unfamiliar area like that. Someone easily could have put a piece of metal in the ground to force people to be stranded-just like you were. As soon as you realized you were not on the right road immediately hightail it out of there.

After many years of trailering boats, driving trucks etc always have a spare tire ready and try to never use a scissor style jack (the little cheap one that comes with cars). Please get an appropriate sized hydraulic jack for your vehicle. I have changed many tires for other people as well, just by always carrying the hydraulic jack. Stay safe yall! 🙏
@StigDesign

yes so true scissor style jack is dangerous even if using rims for extra protection, me and my brother uses regular big jack rated for 1,5ton (it might be a hydralic type, it looks similar sort of to the one the dad with the kid uses) :)

@@razmtaz1987Google hydraulic floor jacks, they aren't that big. I believe a 2 ton lift is only like 18" inches in length. You can also put a spare tire on the back of the van. No excuses for space, you should make the space for stuff like this especially traveling.
@2fathomsdeeper
@2fathomsdeeper 2 ай бұрын
The scissors are OK but slow. The jack I have fits into a pocket at the proper lift point so it can't slip easily. Jack only as high as needed to remove the tire. Break the torque or do final torque with the wheel on the ground not in the air. That will prevent most of the rocking of the vehicle while on the jack. While my jack is made for my vehicle, using a different one would be dangerous as it won't fit the pocket and could slip. One pet peeve is used car dealers that will strip the jack, tire iron, and security key out of vehicles.

There is a way to change a tire without having to lift it with your back, shoulder, etc. Tip, roll, & use a shovel (between the tire & ground) to pry it up and line it up with the studs. Also, a pneumatic impact tool (for lug nuts) is compact and easy

Driving a 5 ton house off road will have problems, but it’s hard to convince me that everything is fine and fun. Maybe the broken heater is an easy fix like the spare tire and bad breaks and odd smells and rubbing sound and leaks are all a part of overlanding. I’m glad that you’re safe, and hope that future problems are minor and less common. Happy trails and happy tails!

I’m wondering if this van, even with your specialized customizations, is up to the task of performing like an Overlander or other off-roading vehicle. I don’t think they’re really sturdy enough for that. Like God forbid a tie rod snaps on a winding mountain road. Seriously, maybe you will have to adjust your pathways and stay away from the more impactful roads. Take care of your shoulder, make sure to let it heal. Love you, Nikki, Camper, and Rodney.
