I planned on switching over to day 6 arrows for the 2020 season, so I'm happy to see a review on these arrows. I plan on using the 300 spine & definitely excited about the super thigh walls of these arrows, that's what attracted me to begin with. Strength and durability especially for the amount of $ we all as hunters invest in our equipment I want an arrow well made that's not going to break the bank like the bishop arrows would, $1000 for a dozen arrows c'mon now. I doubt professional archers aren't spending that kind of $ on a dozen arrows let alone a hunting arrow.

Always changing! So as I read your comment I’m actually playing with a new build. It’s the black eagle rampage with 175 grain point weight. 19.5% FOC at 538 grains

@@PMOUTDOORS24 how do you like the black eagles? I am thinking about doing a similar set up with BE X impacts. Also, what is your draw weight and length?
@milkrvr40882 жыл бұрын
AAE hybrids usually stick with anything it’s the pro hunters that you need the primer pen also I weighed a dozen rip tkos all put together and they were all the same grain weight we have the same scale so I am not sure the weight is good on those also my nexus arrows were all within 1 grain of eachother I haven’t seen a premium arrow with more than a grain across a dozen I do want to try the day six arrows I’m doing the vap tko elites and the nexus arrows and I’m never happy so it’s black eagle or day six next then maybe some bishop if I hit the lottery or win a contest 😂

Am I wrong or did he say that he spun every arrow himself and they all look the same and then at the range he said he only spun 3 because they spin all the arrows before shipping?
@PMOUTDOORS243 жыл бұрын
Possible, it’s been so long since I uploaded I don’t remember what I did 😂 But, I do spin test all arrows still to this day. But most likely for the video I just did a few to get the video recorded. That’s my best guess. Thanks for watching 👊

Hey Garrett thanks for the video. I am currently looking at building a new arrow I am shooting a mathews vxr28 70# with 28.5 in draw. I believe I have narrowed it down to day six with the 150grain SS outsert or some easton axis with ethics archery adjustable outsert with sleeve in all SS. The axis arrows would come in around $180 a dozen where the day six are closer to $210. Since you have used both axis with footer vs daysix what is your opinion of durability and grouping at range 70+yards? Is the little bit more money for the day six worth the price? Thanks again!
@PMOUTDOORS244 жыл бұрын
I think you’re getting a tougher shaft with the Day Six, and the component system that’s paired with it is extremely durable. I shoot my day six extremely well. Honestly, both are great setups, but day six is higher quality.
@LifebytheHorns4065 жыл бұрын
Garrett,Can you list the components of the Easton Axis build you do? I am leaning towards the Day Six, but after watching the Born and raised arrow torture episode, saw that you had almost the same penetration with the Axis as with the much heavier Day Six. What do you use for footers with the Axis and how do they spin compared to the Day Six? Is the overall quality similar?
@PMOUTDOORS245 жыл бұрын
The penetration was due to the footer opening a larger hole for the rest of the shaft to go through. My arrow build was the standard hit insert with the elk river footer which is 14gr. I shoot a 124gr. Head. They both spin really well. Bryan the owner of Day Six personally spin tests every arrow he sales before he ships it out. So I think you’re getting more attention to detail than the mass produced ones.
@joshyoder40765 жыл бұрын
Curious to see how much more durable these are VS axis with hit inserts and footers.

@johnhurley3375 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by the spine is not exactly consistent? I believe you are incredible intelligent, and knowledgeable about anything bow’s. Please forgive my ignorance. i want to learn. I’m not easily offended in anyway shape or form I am always looking to improve on anything I do or have, So please don’t be afraid to give me your honest opinion about anything. I’m of the mind that everything can be improved on, nothing is perfect and I am always open minded to change!

@PMOUTDOORS245 жыл бұрын
No worries Man! So this is secondhand from a buddy who builds arrows. The batches of vaps TKO’s he’s made haven’t had a consistent spine when he tests them in his machine. This means that the stiffness of the arrows are inconsistent which can lead to loss of accuracy or harder to tune. In my opinion spine consistency is more important Than an arrows straightness in many situations. I’d rather shoot a .003 straight arrow with great spine consistency than a .001 Straightness arrow that have different spine consistencies between arrows.

Nice review. Way too expensive for me. Is there anything special about the arrow other than the tolerances? 100 percent carbon right? Is the manufacturing process special? You know what I mean? I’m just trying to understand why I would change from my black eagles.
@PMOUTDOORS244 жыл бұрын
The way they put they wrap the carbon together is unique. They’re method helps get rid of the “backbone” part of the arrow. The layers of carbon or more evenly distributed around the arrow while other manufacturers use a method where they overlap creatingthe “backbone” feel of the arrow
