Saying that the products can be used on so many skin tones--doesn't actually make this true. So tone deaf of them in light of the concealer debacle, esp when the blush and 1st eyeshadow clearly won't work for medium to rich skin tones. Hey Honey and Gilt might be too light as well, past medium skin.

Their concealer range is not inclusive for anyone with tan, dark or deep skin. I hope that you use your direct line of communication with the founders to push this point and encourage them to expand!

I'm really happy for her too. But I own the cheek colors, as they are existing shades, and in the nude doesn't show up extremely well on my medium tan skin tone, I have to layer quite a bit. They have other colors that show up well on darker skin (i.e. naughty & spice and sunkissed) but I'm not sure if this kit is really "great for multiple skin tones".

@@jasminey9642 I own the terra eye pencil she showed and on my light skin (slightly pigmented eyelids) it comes across a little ashy, I only use it on my lower lash line tbh, so the way she put it all over her lid I doubt "everyone" can do that, which is a shame cuz I wanna do that makeup look she did she makes everything look so good and easy, curse my pigmented eyelids 🤦‍♀️

Happy for you Alana, but seriously...what a disaster Nudestix has been this year. Daily 30-50% off. No shades for tanner skin despite using deeper skinned models (can’t really see much on the skin). Mission critical shipping DISASTERS. And I don’t find their formula lasts longer than about 4 hours max for bronzer and maybe 3 hours for eye sticks on my dry skin. Do a collab with Colourpop and you’ll own my bank account.

Well, we all got to make a living and I certainly know that....the influencer doesn’t have total control of the brands output and the problem lies in the fact that the influencer, our lovely girl, does happen to have a complexion where these items/colors work the best for her. I wish brands would do these collabs with three influencers simultaneously so they create a fair, medium and dark version of the same items. Since most of the time this only requires one “exclusive” item with the rest being existing items, this could have a been a deeper blush for deep, a darker bronzer for medium and a perfect lip color for fair. It’s not rocket science. But as I mentioned, I think NudeStix has been a total disaster during the pandemic and I am actually surprised they didn’t completely fold during the last 8 months. I wanted to build a collection of their stuff but since it doesn’t have a good color range and it doesn’t last on my skin...I have now shifted to other brands.

Allanna!!! I love you BUT damn! Everything about this launch is tone deaf. This brand is notoriously known for not being inclusive to darker skins tones. Your BLM messages are questionable when you collaborate with a company that doesn’t align with what your promoting. I'm not sure if you have heard the idiom "read the room," but if someone doesn't "read the room" and acts insensitivity, they were "tone deaf." I would describe "tone deaf" as acting in a way that is insensitive and disrespectful to whatever people are focusing on, even if the actions may have been seen as acceptable in another circumstance. So for this example, people are really focusing on the Black Lives Matter movement and the pandemic, so Allana collabing with a brand that has supported Trump and has noninclusive shade ranges, and the collab itself having a party theme, is very "tone deaf." While the collab may have been more acceptable a year or two ago, the current political climate, more recent issues with Nudestix, and global pandemic make it feel very insensitive. Sorry this is so long, but I hope it helped!

It’s hard to imagine that nobody involved in this didn’t anticipate the public reaction. I’m guessing it’s possible they couldn’t justify adding more shades profit-wise and that maaaaybe they couldn’t add more shades at this point and maaaybe they worried that the brand would only continue to fall in public esteem, so maaaaybe they just decided to push through and hope that (white ...) loyal fans would be undaunted by the brand’s poor decisions and by the tone deafness of the release. Really happy for you, but I just.. can't support it. The fact that you (I guess) had to use the concealer in this video, despite knowing how bad the response was (rightfully so!), is really annoying me. The shade range is crap, and the fact they handled this so badly is making it even worse. I own a ton of products by Nudestix and love them, but I don't know how to support a brand that is not transparent about their steps in the right direction at all, and blocks people that have helpful feedback. Also - In The Nude is definitely not a blush that is suitable for all skin tones.

It’s perfectly reasonably and RESPONSIBLE to purchase from companies who align to your beliefs and ethics because they in turn act on those beliefs and ethics through monetary donations, support, and how they run their company. To be clear this isn’t limited to just political support but also LGBT support, women’s rights, safe work places, environmental sustainability, ethnic inclusivity, etc etc. I encourage you to do research on the companies you support and think hard about what they turn around and use their profits for. Being a conscious shopper is the most empowering and impactful thing you can do to contribute to society.

It would be great if releases like this came in two options and she could have made another custom lipstick that was a deeper nude and switched out the blush and highlight for an option that would be great for deeper skin tones. I obviously have no idea how production of these things work and how easy two kits would have been to product but those are just my thoughts as an outsider. The issue with the nudestix shade range among all their products is a very big problem but maybe something like this (having two kits) could have been a way for Alana to contribute to helping them be more diverse.

I'm sure there are contracts within these collaborations that would stop her from saying too much. Even if Nudestix has had a lot of failures in the past couple of months, Lan herself tried to make *her* collection as inclusive as she can, she excluded Bondi Bae (which we all know is her most talked about Nudestix product) or any bronzer for that matter, because they tend to be shade specific and might not work on med-dark skintones. I do hope she addresses the Nudestix issues whenever she can but relying on her for an explanation on behalf of the brand's failures is unfair.

My thoughts exactly! although I just read an ig comment she made, the reason why she didn't include a bronzer (Bondi Bae to be exact) is because it was very skin tone specific and would not suit a lot of skin tones, so a universally flattering blush made more sense!

You can't please everyone. I'm happy for you. People don't understand the time it takes to develop products and plan launches. This could predate issues that have crept up following the birth of this idea. Despite the fact that Nudestix as brand could be more inclusive (I agree with this) people will overlook the fact that this is in fact just makeup, there are more important things going on in the world that they could direct their angst at. The fact that a brand has a problem with inclusivity implicates one of the “bigger issues in the world” that we should focus on. We need to stop dismissing inclusivity as a non-essential nice to have, and continue having the confronting conversations about WHY inclusivity isn’t a given in an industry focussed on complexion. I’m sorry that Allana isn’t getting her moment, but the commenters here are people who follow and support her, and gave her the platform she has. They are rightfully disappointed and their concerns should not be dismissed.
