Day Trip to Jiufen + Eating TAIWANESE Shaved Ice Taro & Mango Dessert ❄️🥭 🇹🇼

So it's time to get out of the city for a bit of relaxation. Today I'm heading to a mountainous town called Jiufen. located on the slopes of Keelung Mountain, this quaint little village made famous by the discovery of gold in the 1890's is a perfect little getaway only 1 hour away from Taipei City.
The bus journey cost 105 twd, just over 2 gbp, very reasonable for an hour ride! Once we arrived we started to make our way through the small alleys of Jiufen, every other store seemed to be food, vendors selling everything from beef noodles to deep fried prawn balls to cuttlefish and more!
The alley truly has a traditional feel to it, with Chinese lanterns, decorated and carved wooden shutters and doors on small house units that line each side of the alley.
As you make your way through to the other side you're greeted with a spectacular view of the valley and north coast, breathtaking views, as far as the eye can see with quaint little establishments littering the mountain valley for you to relax and have a bit to eat or chill with a beer and admire the view.
To end, I tried out some shaved ice mango and tarrow dessert, an absolute treat, especially after navigating the incredibly humid steps of this sloped town, what better than an iced dessert!
There are trekking routes nearby with a ton of extra activities and things to do, places to explorem, and even a wine/spirit tasting room which is shown in this video.

I'm form Taiwan you can go to Taiwan Bafang Dumpling there Dumplings and Fry Dumplings is very good alot of flavor and drinks and warm soup

The yellow stuff in the shaved ice should be sweet potato balls not mango.

I couldn't really taste or distinguish the flavours between the coloured balls in this dessert, was yummy and extremely refreshing though 😋

@@DanvsFood I guess the reason is because their common base ingredient is starch. In general Yellow/orange = sweet potato Light purple = taro Purple = purple yam Black = sesame Green = tea The taste difference is probably subtle for most people 😅, you might argue that the different side ingredient is used for coloring more than flavoring purpose.

Yeah, each Asian country has their shaved ice version, in order to neat the heat 🥵😜

The price depends on what ingredients you choose. In general, fresh fruit will be a little more expensive, maybe 120-180 NTD. Red bean, peanut, chocolate would be cheaper, maybe less than 100 NTD.

I love Jiufen but it's too crowded during the weekends, perhaps you could visit there again at night because the vibe just so good and all the lanterns hang over around above will be lighted up. Which so stunning!
