I go on a day trip to explore Santa Fe, New Mexico by foot. We visit the historic plaza, the Loretto Chapel and it's miraculous staircase, the St. Francis Cathedral, Artsy Canyon Road, and the oldest house in the United States. Then I get lost in the mountains looking for the Tent Rocks, and the road was closed.
We tow a 2015 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along in our travels by subscribing to this channel.

I lived in Santa Fe for six years and when I left, in 2015, to come back to CA, it seemed like many shops were closing and it was getting really quiet around town. Seems like it's still quiet there. I used to drive a taxi there for about a year and it was a great way to see the city on someone else's dime. I lived in the oldest home in the neighborhood, close to town, and would ride my bike everywhere. I miss my little casita and unique beauty there.

Before I retired from 38 years of trucking in 2015 I always LOVED going through New Mexico! Especially, traveling north of Albuquerque, on Highway 550, northwest up towards Farmington! Just simply breath taking! One of the perks for a truck driver in New Mexico is the abundance of indian casinos for parking, as, a lot of the casinos have truck stops attached as well! And, speaking of Mexican food, well, I could eat that stuff seven days a week! I think I'm just one of few Mexican Caucasians in Texas! LOL! Thanks, Robert, for taking me down memory lane once again! Travel safe, stay happy, and, God Bless! Hasta la vista! (5/9/2018 Wednesday 2:53pmCST Houston, Tx)

4uFriday car theft capital of the USA, lots of theft, many murders bro. APD also are an extremely aggressive police department. They were investigated by the Feds a few years ago for over 20 killings of innocent, unarmed citizens in less than 2 years. Look it up online; yes I live in ABQ. A couple of positives: botanical garden and zoom are nice as well as the art museum which is right next to old town.

I watched this quite a while back and kept meaning to leave a comment, but as I strayed from task to task and day to day, I never got back to it. So, I felt compelled to re-watch and leave a word or two (or three or four or…). This video turned out really well. The quiet sunlit streets in the early morning hours actually provide a more intimate and artistic approach to portraying Santa Fe onscreen. A place like this can easily straddle the line between the touristy and the authentic, especially when there are too many wandering bodies in the viewfinder to blur that line. So although it wasn’t as lively as you’d hoped, for the episode’s sake, the outcome was very successful. There is such a lovely connection here between the choice of music and each scene, and when there are moments without the music, the pause is perfectly placed and keeps the attention span in check. That’s a smooth move. I loved this little tour of New Mexico’s capital city, where the historic southwest architecture, including the cathedrals, could never be boring, as well as the sights and sounds of the streets… who doesn’t love a good mariachi song? I can actually play that one! Good times. Sorry about the closed road at the end of the episode, Tent Rocks looked like it would’ve been worthy of your talents. The best work is produced through the greatest challenges, and I will look forward to the beautiful horizons you will undoubtedly show us during your current circumstances. Thank you! Well. This was more than a word or two, wasn’t it. 🤔

I was shocked at how empty Santa Fe was when you were there. We went in October two years ago and it was full of people everywhere! Probably because of the balloon fiesta. We tried to get a table at The Shed but it was a two hour wait and you got right in! We probably spent at least two hours or more on Canyon Road. So much art and sculpture to look at. So sorry you missed The Tents. The walk through there was awesome. Put it on your list for next time.

Next time you are there, head north to Tesuque. On the way you will pass Bishop's Lodge. It's a high-end spa now, but it used to be the retirement area of Bishop Lamy who founded the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. In Tesuque, you can find Shidoni, a bronze foundry with two football field-sized outdoor exhibits of their work. SO many other sites to see. Far to many to list. I hope that when you passed through the Jemez Pueblo you stopped for some fry bread from one of the road-side stands. Great people and a wonderful snack!

We were there two years ago and it was very buisy. My brother in law lives in Albuquerque and his mother in law had a boutique there in Sante Fe. I cannot wait to go back. It is strange seeing the streets a empty. I was able to get my ashes at the Cathedral as it was Ash Wednesday. Given a choice I would move out there. We went to the oldest house also. I really enjoyed your video.

When we visited Santa Fe it was pretty quiet in the morning, too but then livened up mid-morning. Would like to return to see more. Didn’t get to do much last year when we went through Taos. Couldn’t find a working parking meter (gave up after 3 times of meters taking our money and not working) so went on to Taos Pueblo and had an enjoyable visit there...also a dog friendly place. Hope to give Taos another try on a future trip.

Summer is the time for tourist action in Santa Fe. It reverts to a sleepy hamlet after that. Peace for the locals.

Wait a minute I was there about same time. There eis awesome motel there. All my ancestors from Santa Fe then they branched out. There is a nice consignment shop near the square. Plus my dear old cousin may passed by now name Georgia. She should be late 80s. The Spanish with the older people who always been there is more Castilian. Hope you heard old people the originals speak around you. I miss the red and green chilli. Nothing in the USA has best chilli. I mean mild sause.

This video brought back so many great memories Robert! The first time I ever went to the USA it was to visit my friend who lived in Albuquerque, well actually at the time he was living in Los Alamos! And I found that place so fascinating!! And we went to Santa Fe too, which was really interesting. Too bad you didn't make it to Tent Rocks or Taos. Next time!!

@@TravelingRobert May I suggest you go to Tent Rocks via the Cochiti exit off of I-25. The roads are much better maintained and they will not be closed as Tent Rocks is now a National Monument (Kasha Katuwe). That mountain road you turned down is probably not well maintained. Tent Rocks is definitely worth seeing!
