Day4 (青龍瀑布): An Epic Two-Tower Cycling Tour of Taiwan. Green Dragon

The original plan was a very aggressive one, to ride 190 km from Shizhuo all the way to Pingtung City with a total elevation gain of 5,000 ft. The majority of the route is downhill in the mountains but it's over 100 km on flat road at sea level going through many little towns on the inland. The inland temperature is expected to reach 100F. Again, we changed the plan and only planned to ride in the mountains and along a reservoir, and will skip the inland route which is way too hot and humid for cycling in mid-June.
It’s a total surprise that we came across the Qinglong (AKA Green Dragon) Waterfall off the mountain HWY 3. Oh boy. Once I saw that, I knew that I have to jump in.
After swimming at the base of the waterfall, the temperature persistently stayed high at 100F, and we decided to have lunch at the Dapu Township, but Laura decided to skip lunch and went on on her own power for another 25mi. After a big lunch break with some local fish delicacy, it was too hot for us to go on, and decided to call it a day. We didn’t want to ride an additional 100km in the 100F heat in high humidity.
At the end, we’ve ridden only 35 mi (Laura 60 mi) with 4,200 ft of elevation gain and ended the ride in the Dapu Township near the reservoir. But that was enough. It was too hot at noon.

I was looking forward for this day-4 video! Hopefully some day I can the same thing in my home "town" Taiwan. By the way, I joined two running events back in year 2016 and 2017 for 12k and half marathon around this reservoir.

Your hometown is near the reservoir , that’s a very beautiful place. The mountains and the cycling route there is so beautiful. It’s a good training place for cycling as well.
