👍👍 My type of vid. Recovering broken machinery from muddy fields 💪💪 A nightmare on the business side of things but great for the little boy inside us all.

A suggestion for the broken shaft is to contact local machinists. Sometimes they can make a part cheaper and faster then getting it from a manufacturer. Good video Olly, and I hope things get better.

Thanks for the birthday shout out. I think the old fendt 514 should make it on to list wat a tractor spent most of my teens powerharrowing in one of these and took my tractor test in it to just shows how simple life is now driving the new fendt to the old ones.

Unusual for a driveshaft to just snap like that. He was driving with a lot of lock on at 2:47. Maybe those deep ruts, combined with diff locks & driving style put too much stress on it.
@OOpSjm3 жыл бұрын
Not unusual given the conditions and lock angles he was using while subsoiling.

@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer the John Deere that made the ruts with 16ton of spuds didn't break down 😃

I would have started in the most water filled ruts by putting little short runs in at 90° to them. Then done the rest of the field so they could dry a bit. Never seen the point in driving down a rut you are trying to lift. Had a cat 3 top link ball snap on me when I was mapping a field. The 7 furrow mounted plough soon let me know there was an issue! 😙

Hi Olly, great to see Johnathan back in the yard 👍 I got caught out with the road works as well, cant understand why they let you drive virtually all the way up the road before you see a "road closed" sign !! Always handy to keep a handful of zip ties in the cab, could have been just the job to keep the drive shaft away from fouling while you was trying to move the tractor. Cheers for the video Olly 👍

Any really heavy work needs to be done straight, as the Universal Joint is much stronger in a straight line than when its at its most angled, like when in full lock or at the extremes of the suspension.

Bit of a bummer of a day but shows us how you get round problems. I wonder if the shaft was shocked due to the kinetic energy transfer when the diff lock was engaged from the other wheel spinning quite fast. Thanks for the outro extension. 😉

I always look at it like this the field is a good place to break down! If it had locked the front wheel on a busy road miles away from home tramming on a 50k with a loaded trailer😮😮. The damage and recovery bill would have been huge. Assume they are sealed for life so you will be wanting one for the other side as well☹️Unless the UJ is standard size.

I like to always use the automatic difflock on the Fendt so that it turns it off with the steering angle bit easier on the tractor. But that still should not be the cause for the shaft snapping.

DVLA thought they best get a move on as soon as they saw it was that "Olly Blogs" fella again lol. Recall seeing a USA 4x4 offroad channel explain that the weakest position for power transmission through the UJ is with the steering turned so probably didn't help having the steering turned trying to get out of the rut dragging the sub soiler
