DAYBOATS ARE BACK AT NORBURY WHARF
Now that the Government has said that English people can drive to outdoor spaces for a day trip and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs added that motorised craft are now allowed, initially for day use, we have been working to safely begin hiring our very popular day boats.
Using strict guidelines from the British Marine Federation we are restarting our day boat hire on June 4th, with all the precautions required by current government instructions.
A day out on one of our 10-person vessels won’t be quite the same as before as we have now developed a hands free, socially distanced and clinically clean procedure that we hope will allow families to enjoy a summer’s day out on the water of the beautiful Shropshire Union Canal.
A day out on the canal is probably one of the best and safest ways for a family to enjoy time together in the open air and amongst wonderful scenery. Norbury is situated in a 17 mile long stretch of canal with no locks.
The canal runs along tall embankments with wonderful countryside views, and through leafy, cool, cuttings and you can moor up in total isolation for family games or a picnic as well as spotting some of the fascinating wildlife that shares the canal with boats.
Of course, the rules keep changing, but we think we can now operate safely for both our customers and staff.
The new rules mean we would like everyone who can to pre-book and pay for their day boat on our website.
You can also pre-order bacon sandwiches and hot coffee for consumption on board the vessel. Booking online will not only save you up to £10 but will limit your need to deal with our staff.
You can make a booking at www.norburywha...
There are some important new rules:
All customers MUST adhere to the most recent Government Guidelines and if any member of the household has symptoms of Covid 19 they MUST stay home and please inform Norbury Wharf Ltd immediately.
When you arrive at Norbury:
Please arrive promptly at your appointed time as this limits the number of people on site
Only members from the same household can board the vessel
Only one nominated person can complete the documentation in the Booking Office, the rest of your group should wait in your vehicle
Only one person can receive instruction on vessel operation from a member of staff and must keep a distance of two metres at all times.
Ground markings for social distancing in our office and on our wharf should be adhered too at all times.
Apart from your nominated person, all other family members must stay ashore when a staff member is aboard the vessel, if this is not possible then they should stay inside the vessel at all times until the staff member has disembarked.
Ensure you have all you need for your trip before you get on board; a card payment will be required for the £80 Damage Deposit.
We think we have created a safe and practical system to get families back out on the canal and we are really looking forward to welcoming customers again.
We can only make this work with your understanding and cooperation, as well as your patience, at this difficult and challenging time.
Above all we want you to come and enjoy the adventure of a day on the water this summer.
