Yep, food prep is an absolute must. The establishments I've worked at, we'd always start work about an hour or so before opening hours, so we can prep things. I used to work as a pizza chef, so the oven must be hot, the dough fluffed up and ready, and toppings freshly cut up and measured by 9am sharp!

I worked at an ER and we had 4 people come in with food poisoning symptoms within 30 minutes of each other. We asked them were they ate at, it was all at one place. I had only been working there for a few months, but other long-time co-workers said, "Not again." That place had the same thing happen the previous year. But this time one of the patients was the owner/operator's niece.

SOP for any restaurant is a minimum of one hour prep before opening. You need that time to get food out of the cooler/freezer, heat up your ovens and fryers, set up your hot and cold stations, prep any fresh ingredients, and generally get into the flow of working. Trying to do all this _while the restaurant is open_ is a damn near guarantee that someone is going to eff up and cross-contaminate or otherwise take shortcuts that risk food safety.

I worked at a small dive bar as the grill cook (just me, and the bartender, no one else on staff during the shift) and I started cutting veg and blanching wings an hour before we opened, turning the fryer and grill on, etc. so that when we opened people would come in and I would immediately be ready to cook for anyone who wanted food. I’m pretty sure that’s standard for any restaurant

I worked in food service for years. It’s impossible to come in at 11 and open 11z you need at least a hour or 2 to prep before you open

That's what I was saying if they just opened up that rice should have been nice and steamy and moist. It looked dried out in clumpy like they just pulled it out of the refrigerator and threw it in the microwave.

Wait, what? $20 for three tacos? That's ridiculous. I'm in Canada and our dollar is 70% of the value of yours, and I order my tacos via Uber Eats which adds a surcharge. Even with all that, the *MOST* expensive tacos from a Mexican resto I've seen is 3 for $18CAD

Even then they're literally a freakin dollar or less in the streets of Mexico. I'm also from Canada (Ontario) I know we're obviously a long way, but anything more than like $4 per is egregious. And they better be bangin at $4 each too.

@@littlesmallworld123 I've only been to Mexico once - to Mexico City to see a Gary Numan concert of all things. Just outside my hotel was a hole-in-the-wall where I was able to get two BANGIN' tacos and a beer for $1.60 CAD (200 pesos). Across the street was a McDonald's, where the prices were 50% higher than in Canada and the USA. Go figger.

Been there a couple of times. Good for a drink and app before an afternoon matinee. For really good Mexican food, check out Camacho Garage in New Haven.

Best Mexican place I've ever been to, hands down, is Taqueria Mexico in Wallingford. I'd give this place a shot and hit up a burrito. So damn good!

I have seen that restaurant, but I prefer Puerto Vallarta, about 5-10 minutes up the road. I only go to the Post Mall when I need to, and it's never for food. If it's a school night, and I know it will be quiet, I might go to Dave & Buster's or Buffalo Wild Wings for a happy hour drink, but that's only if I catch a movie. There are far too many spots on the Post Road for them to serve lackluster food. Some of these restaurants operate as if they don't have competition nearby.

You're totally right about food prep. You open at a certain hour, chefs are there hours earlier prepping, that's literally part of their job. Also the lack of taco substitution combined with shitty food prep absolutely shows bad management. As a Texas native I'm deeply annoyed by this place.

ive resigned myself to waiting until im downtown and going to a good mexican food truck the restaurants here almost all seem to be serving up unseasoned meat, a lot of times all the ingredients are good but the meat is just a bland prop for the salsa

There is a Chinese restaurant on Whaley Avenue in Connecticut called China House. It is pretty good they’re garlic. Chicken is amazing you should try it.

Bruh here in Texas depending where you go you can get some banging tacos for cents on a dollar. There’s a taco place that makes really good tacos and sells them for $20 for a pizza box full of them. You can make them birria tacos for a $5 up charge

Sounds like when I WORKED at KFC and I had a chicken sandwich on my break. I was sick for three days after. Couldn't hold anything down. My sister (living with her at the time) and my 9 year old nephew had to take care of me (it was summer, so he wasn't in school). I quit after that! I haven't eaten there since. That was probably 30 years ago.

D.. I wish you were in the area of T Bell and KFC Split. It's the worst rated in the area. I tried to get that new Chizzo. Last night and just now. Half last night. Cause they didn't have enough. Tonight they have no pepperoni. They are terrible. Hartville Ohio. Worst rated. So... Last night they gave me 3 Chicken S. No Tea again... I grew up in Akron and Cleveland. Never had this happen. They have bad management. Wow. Tell a friend. Lol.

I liked the Artworks that you all shown there.....not sure though if they made sense to the big picture. The seating arrangements to me made the restaurant less inviting and kinda old and not in a good way. Mexican restaurants are meant to feel and look sweet and flavorful with a side of romanticism. They need a overhaul there, that place needs passion!
