Days Gone is an upcoming open world action-adventure game being developed by SIE Bend Studio for the PlayStation 4. It was first revealed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Days Gone is an action-adventure game played from the third-person view. Players control Deacon St. John, a Drifter and former bounty hunter who prefers to live a dangerous life on the road over living in wilderness encampments. The game takes place two years after a global pandemic occurred which killed almost all of humanity, but transformed millions of others into "Freakers", mindless zombie-like creatures that are quickly evolving.

That was a bounty hunter mission from the game but for demo purposes the AI was toned down. We saw two types of the infected in this demo: Newt, which was the small creature and Horde which is self explanatory. There are many other types. Each type has their own ecosystem and behaviours and to learn how to best survive against them you can watch them. It's a massive open world with day and night cycles and whether conditions. The whether conditions affect how you handle the terrain on foot or on your bike.

yeh and the "normal looking zombies" i think are called freakers and they are pretty much still alive. just the way the virus has infected the human. and its not like other post apocalyptic games where its usually one shot to head =dead any vital organ that is shot in this game will 99% kill that "zombie" because they are somewhat still alive. just some info if you wanted to know. ;)

Yeah but this is a similar technique used in Dying Light. You had different types of infected that acted differently and had their own ecosystems as well. The classification of the zombie genre is not only based on the zombies themselves but the nature of the core game. It's a survival based game, bounty hunting is assumably built into it but know that the world itself is based on survival against the infected. That's what makes this a zombie game.

It's as if every video game company releases a zombie game nowadays, but this has something different. As far as I can tell, not from the gameplay/storyline perspective, but rather from the zombies'. They are in masses, they are fast, I believe I spotted some kind of sophistication in the AI and the overall feeling is that of that movie with Brad Pete, what's it called... World War Z... Actually got me nervous watching (the gameplay, not the movie!) I just wish it'd be released for PC as well, looks awesome! :)

This is a cinematic experience. When he checked the truck, it was scripted, the character put the gun down....he put the gun down when he kneel'd down. That's not something you do in gameplay, what if you needed a quick check because zombies aren't far behind? Also, when he met that guy who threw the zombie off that wood, the zombie jumped on him. That's kind of cinematic too. You can also tell it's easy to get away from zombies. The player walks sometimes to let'em catch up, or he senselessly shoots at them(as if he'll do ANY damage) to let'em catch up. This gameplay is so scripted it's ridiculous.

If each individual zombie will have fully developed AI then the PS4 cpu wont handle it well. Oh and the framerate will probably be appaling. Looks great though, albeit scripted :)
