Just say "I haven't passed yet." Don't take it as a failure but see it as a learning opportunity. There is a lot of power in "Yet"; you are telling yourself that you will get there and that your eyes and heart are still fixed on your goal.

Hi Sierra! I appreciate the honesty here. As a fellow ICU gal, I've always associated a paracentesis with ascites or acute peritonitis. My mind wouldn't necessarily have gone to infection. I'm sure I would've been in the same boat you were. :)

I wouldn’t have thought of that either with the paracentesis. However, like you; I’m a night shift new grad ER RN and I feel like normally we don’t schedule those procedures at night so most likely that would be something more day shift staff would encounter.
