Hi! Not sure if you’ll see this, but I used to watch your videos religiously when I first started thinking about grad school ~3 years ago. Forgot about grad school for a bit, graduated, worked, and decided to apply last year… just got into Yale! Thanks for your content, it’s definitely been a catalyst in my life

Hi Kaelyn, I'm glad I found your channel. I'm currently working on a Ph.D. myself. I'm still in the seminar phase but anticipate starting my dissertation writing sometime next year. Your videos have inspired and motivated me to keep pushing forward.

Hi Kaelyn! I am currently a graduate student at the University of Tokyo studying Public Policy and just letting you know that your videos mean a lot to me! I used to binge watch you when I was going to apply for grad school and now that I have interest in a PhD in the future I am starting to watch you again! Your vids are literally a source of comfort. I am dreaming of getting into a prestigious university in the UK/France/Netherlands/Switzerland bc I have fallen in love with the Europe so much and looking to move outside of Asia!

I've read "if he had been with me", it's an amazing read that is more chill and easygoing, but definitely prepare yourself for the very end. Love your vlogs!

I loved the entire Ken Follett Pillars of the Earth series. I read them in order but it is not necessary. In order, you can follow families and places through time which adds some context and familiarity and makes you more invested in certain characters as you see family histories and patterns play out over generations. I listened through Libby (thank you public library) on my 2-hours of commuting and that length of time was just enough story for me each day.

I love how you vlog your PhD journey. I am a researcher in a grad school in Korea and it's so stressfullllll being in the lab all day lol

hi kaelyn! would you consider doing a video on supervisions? I've recently started my PhD, and every supervision feels vague (“every PhD journey is unique, there is no right and wrong answer, you have to choose for yourself”) while also demanding (“I’d expect longer writing samples at this stage/a better understanding of approaches in the area/a deeper engagement with the criticisim of this methodology”). I feel cornered, and I haven’t even gotten to comps! my MPhil supervisions were very different, but then the area was also different. I would appreciate your take on this ❤

I can totally identify with the disregard of your self-inflicted book buying ban. I'm thrilled for you (and slightly envious, myself being a visiting PhD student in Turin) that they've got a separate historiography section at Blackwell's. Keep up the good work of creating inspirational content!

Hi, I'm thinking of getting an iPad for research work. I really like the size that you have in this video. What size is it? Looks like a 12.9 but could be wrong. Thanks!

What makes a true historian? He must have a natural curiosity about the world around him and the courtesy to understand it.
