These are my days itl of a jobless software engineer. I had an entry level software engineer interview at a large, well known company and I taped my responses to the questions asked! I’ve spent about 2 weeks prepping for this tech job interview that was set to be both behavioral and technical.
In this video, you’ll watch my coding interview study process along with how I unwind with my family. I then provide a very unedited look at how I answer questions on the spot during a job interview.
This video is perfect for:
* Those going through the tech job hunt
* Those preparing for behavioral interviews
* Those preparing for technical/coding interviews
* Young software engineer
* Aspiring software engineers
* Those wondering how to become a software engineer in 2024
* Those looking for 2024 job hunt tips and advice

// WHO IS THE BLACKFEMALE ENGINEER
I’m Naya and I recently switched from finance to software engineering in just 6 months! Within those months, I learned how to code when I had no prior tech experience and got my dream job at a company 99% of people know or interact with. My goal is to be a resource for people who are struggling with their career shift journey. I also aim to aid current CS and software engineering students and those in their early career by sharing my experience, advice, and answering the questions you have!

The amount of effort and hoops you have to jump through to land a software engineer role is crazy. The fact your performance on a couple random questions that have nothing to do with the job is something going forward I hope changes in the industry. There is a lot of talent out there that just doesnt perform well with these questions but they can do amazing things.

This video was really enlightening! I know about div classes, alt text, and accessibility; so glad you did an overhaul around it

I am too! And a lot of the time it's not incredibly hard to make digital products more accessible. Just requires a tiny bit more thought✨

You rocked that interview. You're very well spoken. What language did you use? Was there a way to step through in debug?

Thank you! I used JavaScript in HackerRank. And yes debugging through console logs were available but ran out of time in the end!

I remember spending so much time doing code challenges on platforms like codility and codewars during my job hunting period but surprisingly, in South Africa most companies I interviewed with do aptitude types of tests, or take-home projects with a phone/video behavioural or culture fit interview rather than code challenges, I felt like I wasted all that time doing challenges.😅It improved my skills of course but damn.. I really got into them 😆

Absolutely! I shared a video before this about how to best practice for coding interviews. Check it out and let me know what you think! Algos is all about practice. Definitely don’t expect to just already know solutions for these types of problems

Hello, I love being a software developer or engineer so which language should I start with, because i hear some say its best to start with web (html css JavaScript) and some python so plz help me with that
@TheBlackFemaleEngineer
@TheBlackFemaleEngineer Ай бұрын
I highly recommend starting with web if you don’t know the career track you want to be on! If you do, learn the languages for that career (data analyst, mobile dev, etc. )

It's not about what you know, it is mainly about who you know when in relations to landing a job through the external interview process. Interviews are just about procedure. Trust me the candidate has already been selected before the interviews even start. I learned a long time ago how to land a job and since never had a problem. I even learn the backdoor way into job. I once hired in as a janitor just to be able to apply internal for a job that I would have no chance at if it went external. They had to give me the job because Hr made them. This was do to the fact that I was the only internal that applied that was qualified.

You kinda talk walk too much in interviews and overly explain yourself. It’s a sign of weakness and desperation. Just keep it short & concise.
