I'm gonna miss John Black. He was such a great man. Since I moved from Brazil to Canada, in 1982, I started watching Days of our lives and The Young & Restless. These two shows that I enjoy so much , it's where I learned my English. Never went to school in Canada. The show never will be the same without John Black. R.I.P. Drake. 😢❤😢

There is no actor in my opinion that is more loved and respected than Drake. His loss will sorely be missed. I am grieving for his family and his fans, me included. I watched Days of Our Lives on and off throughout the years. I did know someone who suffered and passed away from pancreatic cancer. It is a brutal disease. RIP Doug and RIP Drake!! 😢😢 Fly with the angels!!❤

My mom passed from pancreatic cancer less than a year after diagnosis. Combined with early dementia, it was heartbreaking 💔. Will miss John on Days! Huge loss!

I just thought about this: John's wife Isabella died from pancreatic cancer and now Drake's died from pancreatic cancer. Cancer is a horrible, evil disease - wouldn't wish it on anyone. Drake will be missed by so many. :(

He was my fav soap actor...always a great guy to watch, and one of the handsomest men I have seen. It was heartbreaking to see him losing so much weight...I have had a family member die from pancreatic cancer and it is a horrible disease. RIP Drake....may angels take you to heaven...

One of my great grandmothers died from pancreatic cancer in 1986 (just under ten years before I was born). She was 70 years of age.

My mom in law died from Pancreatic cancer when she was 42. It was only 6 months after she was diagnosed. It’s a horrible cancer!

I am so sorry for your loss. My mom in law also died from pancreatic cancer. We worked together for 15 years. We took care of children with developmental disabilities. She finally made the decision to retire after over 30 years of dedication and very hard work. She was diagnosed 2 - 3 months after she retired, and lived 3 years and 4 months. She worked so hard for so long, and didn’t get to enjoy her retirement even a little. Yes, It is truly a horrible disease. I miss her so much.

It still seems so unreal.... he was so iconic - like Joseph Mascalo/Stefano.... Bill Hayes/Doug..... and John Aniston/Victor.... except we never knew Drake was sick! He was so young and vibrant.... my heart is broken for his wife and family and those who knew him and loved him.... it's still so unbelievable.... 💔

If his last episode aired 9/9 that means it was filmed back in February. They must have known he was not coming back. I was saddened when I heard what his last air date was. I thought he’d still be on air for several months when I heard he’d died. It’s very sad.

I thought so too in 2007 but I did and it was remarkable and true to the characters of John and Marlena ! I watched it again a few days ago it was hard because the reality is real this time but very therapeutic. The greatest super couple of all time!

10 months is a long time to not have John on screen. I'm sure we'll hear some one-sided phone calls with "Doc". It will be interesting to see if they just say he's on a case or spending time with his dad or what?

Even though I've never met Mr. Hogestyn, watching him since the year my son was born and he first appeared on screen, endeared him to me to the extent that I am profoundly saddened by his passing. I wish that we had Drake for as long as John Aniston and Bill Hayes, the latter of whom I started watching when I was 7 years old.

They've used the plane crash thing too many times. I think something that could be relatable and believable would be is if all of characters get alerts there was a mass shooting in Horton Square and John was killed as he was shopping for Doc. They then could use this as a platform to educate on mental illness related to the epidemic of mass shootings in our country. Other than Grey's Anatomy and American Horor Story I am not familiar with how many shows have done that storyline.
