It's intentional. Very common vocal production technique to add energy, some edge, and bite to a sound source. Basically We're supposed to feel it more than hear it when we're listening to the song and anything more exaggerated would be heard as an effect.

Agree that soft and hard clipping can be used quite well as an intentional effect. Given that I couldn't hear the distortion in the original mix + the audio track to this video is clipping above 0db, I'm not buying that it's intentional in this instance. That being said, I'd rather be given a clipped acapella than no acapella at all.
