I'm so late to this, but the fact that Rory's vocals sound fire before mixing is incredible. He's easily one of the top vocalists in the scene right now.

I love deceptively simple songs like this. You hear it the first time and think it's pretty basic, but then all the work under the hood proves it's a beast

Great insights. Exciting to hear melodies and instruments which became veeery subtle in the mix and master.

So cool to see actual work on the real stems - I love this inside look and hearing the song in different ways. It always makes it cool going back to just listen to the song :) thanks team for doin this

Quad tracking is amazing for building a bigger sound. I feel the key is to have different tones and also to use the tone switches for which ever guitar you are using. Or even a different guitar If you have the option. Filling in the under belly with a lower more thick tone, and then pulling out the highs and mids with a more distorted, and twangy and “pingy” tone. But honestly in most cases it’s only needed for like choruses and parts in the song you want to elevate just have that wall of guitar in your face.

This a really cool concept but this doesn't sound raw at all, vocals are like super processed, or is that the whole point?
@bradyoactiv3 жыл бұрын
They mentioned it was mixed down stems just so those were available to those that felt overwhelmed by the amount of vocal tracks otherwise. They played the stems.
@Tyla_C03 жыл бұрын
That makes sense!

That’s cause they’re only doing the mix, these tracks were already cleaned up, tuned, time corrected during the engineering phase which happens before the mix. Most mix engineers at this level (if they’re not doing it themselves) have assistants that prepare the files for them so all they have to think about is the mix.
@gulfmediacollective22492 жыл бұрын
@@EthanRom and either way, cleaning up tracks, tuning and correcting vocals are all parts of the production/Recording phase anyways. The mix engineer should ideally never have to do those things. I know that’s not how it happens a lot of the time but that’s another story lol
@EthanRom2 жыл бұрын
@@gulfmediacollective2249 Well for the big bois they have an intern do it for them. For most solo producers, they may have to do it all on their own. It's why I usually have three saves. The tracking, edit and mix sessions are all separated from each other
