Daystate Red Wolf Laminate HP Review

Every now and then an airgun manufacturer will develop a new rifle that changes the trajectory of the entire industry. The marketplace has recently been privileged to a number of very exciting models with features and designs that have definitely moved the needle on what defines a exciting airgun. Enter the next generation and new airgun benchmark the Daystate Red Wolf. The Red Wolf and Red Wolf HP is the Formula one of air rifles with computer and state of the art MCT firing systems. Each Red Wolf has three individual programed energy and velocity settings that can be selected by the shooter in seconds. The shooter can further tune the rifle with an optional Daystate programmer with in the rifles limits. This feature is not for the faint of heart as it allows each power level program to be manipulated to achieve the very best speed for a given pellet out of each individual rifle. Daystate has thoughtfully included the default program if the user wants to return to the factory settings. The Red Wolfs LCD screen displays the state of air pressure in tenths of a bar, the battery state, shot count, total shots fired,magazine counter, and more. The heart of the water proof computer controlled system is the electronic MCT this firing valve takes pressure readings from the carbon fiber air supply and tells the valve how much to open in order to give the maximum shots per fill and tight shot to shot consistency for benchrest winning accuracy from the special select barrel. The battery to power the unit is conveniently stored in the easy to access grip area and it will provide thousands before a recharge is required. There is no finer trigger on a sporting air rifle than the fully tune-able match grade unit on the Red wolf. The trigger can be set to break on a breath or set for sporting applications as needed. The action of the Red Wolf is a left or right hand reversible super glide side lever that requires almost no effort. The action is fast and positive for quick follow up shots or arthritic hands. The Red Wolf sports a improved 10 shot magazine and carbon fiber shroud system to reduce report. All that is the Red Wolf is cradled into the finest sporting airgun stock Daystate has created. The beauty of the select walnut flows into the action to present a piece of airgun artwork. Elegance is not wasted as the stock provides cheek piece adjustments for height, left and right canting as well as butt pad up, down ,left and right. The video looks great. I bought a RedWolf and I had fill problems. Sent the rifle back. Was told by the service department it was working. I do not know what I did wrong, why it would not fill to 250 Bar, or the status of the rifle. I guess I will just buy an FX next. Currently, I am getting my Daystate 2000 out of the closet. Will be checking for leaks. Anyone know who services seals on older Daystate rifles.

The video is excellent, and Jared's adoration for the gun is infectious. Most PCPs are boringly accurate at 25 yards, no? It looks like you need to stretch the Red Wolf further out than 50 yd to really show it's real potential. Were these pellets out of the tin, or sorted, washed, lubed etc? It looks like you were single loading these. How much worse was the accuracy for magazine fed pellets? Do you have any high resolution images of one of these in walnut? At what distances with realistic wind, do you get sub 1" groups? What is the energy roughly at that target distance for the 3 power levels? Does it come with sling studs or what does AOA charge for installing those? Any idea when Daystate will release a Bluetooth version, or failing that what the refresh schedule is for these? I am just wondering how long I have to wait before I will be ordering one of these. Also, Daystate really need to look into inductive charging (i.e Qi) so you can charge it without breaking a weather seal.

Wonderful rifle.... but not a fan of the LiPo battery in the stock. Coming from a RC background i know how well they burn. That would destroy the rifle and any around it in a gun safe if it would ignite. A standard alkaline battery chemistry would be preferred. If you don't believe me search KZbin for LiPo battery fire.

Hi I see that this rifle (high power version) is getting 55fpe in this video, but on your site it says it gets 65 fpe. Has the redwolf HP been updated to get 65 fpe since this video was made? Thank you

I have one and yes because on low power mine is shooting the 18 grains at 1024 fps, and the 25 redesigns at around 960. I'm 99 % sure it's got the safari programing in it and I think they took this video down from their web sight. Because of that, the shot counts are not going to be the same but I have great results shooting the redesigns on low and if I want to flatten my trajectory out I will up it to med or high if I feel like pumping my balls off early. Low is perfectly fine for me since I mostly target shoot with it and hand pump. Don't bother getting any 18 grain pellets for this gun , it's way too fast for them. the 21 grains do pretty well but still too a bit too fast. You want the Redesigns, they are tough to find, FX also makes or brands the Redesigns in a bigger 350 count tin, but also hard to get. Stock up when you can unless you want mediocre results with lighter grain pellets.

I'm just curious where you are getting the 5 year warranty from. Both the manual and the website only says 3 years. Can you explain? Is there a way to extend the warranty or do they offer a different warranty policy on this rifle? I can't find anywhere where it is published that there is a 5 year warranty, only from your mouth. Did you give us the wrong information?

Hey Jared that was a great video man but I'm almost thinking if you to shop the jsb pellets the 15.89 grain out of a huntsman Regal 22 caliber gun you could have got the same groups without all that electronic stuff I still think the Huntsman Regal is really the best airgun daystate really has ever made it is the prettiest it's got the most traditional look to it it doesn't have a great big carbon fiber goofy-looking tank underneath it it is just really a beautiful gun and we'll just about out shoot any gun out there I believe they broke the mold when they made the Huntsman Regal and you don't have to worry about any mechanical problems or charging batteries or stuff like that but good video though I enjoy watching them

A charged battery is required. You can buy a spare in case you forget to charge it, but it also goes a long time between charges.

Thats impressive. I thought my r10 .22 was efficient. My r10 is getting 115 shots before falling off the the reg but the red wolf is getting over 200 with the same carbon fiber bottle.

Do a lot of "hunting" do you? That thing is pretty much everything I've never wanted in a hunting rifle. But then again I shoot real guns and I'm not a "hunting expert" like all you airgun fanboys. Meaning I've actually gone out and hunted and harvested game animals and varmints for several decades with quite a few different guns. Real ones. So I'm always left clueless when you "hunters" start talking "hunting" with your stupidly expensive pellet guns.

Hi Jared! I’m having issues with RW-1623, not sure where we’re bought by a friend... but the original speeds didn’t match your review. Not sure if mine got reprogrammed or yours, but JSB 18.1 looks like a shotgun group... a palm size at 30m, simply a disaster :( Is there published your fine setup anywhere? I’m looking for the programmer to edit these parameters and try to match yours
