Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2021

The Michael Fairman Channel welcomed several of this year's nominees for the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Daytime Drama categories for a very special livestream presentation on Wednesday night, May 26th and the replay is available right here!
Nominees appearing during our Emmy special include: The Bold and the Beautiful's Darin Brooks and Courtney Hope, General Hospital's, Maurice Benard, Finola Hughes, Max Gail, Briana Lane and Dominic Zamprogna, The Young and the Restless' Bryton James, Melissa Claire Egan and Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Days of our Lives nominees: Victoria Konefal, Cady McClain, Wally Kurth, George DelHoyo, and Tamara Braun.
In addition, NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp shared insight into this year's nomination process, the year in daytime, and teased what to look for on the upcoming Daytime Emmy Telecast on June 25th on CBS, where the award show recently got a two-year pick-up.
We congratulate all of this year's nominees for their hard work and performances in a genre like no other.

Thank you so much for doing this, Michael. I totally agree that daytime is so overlooked & under appreciated. They’re by far, the hardest working actors out there…don’t get nearly enough credit & also have to deal with all of us crazy fans! I mean, what other Genre has to deal with all that, plus 95 pages of dialogue to shoot in 1 take! Finola Hughes: stunningly gorgeous & amazing actor. IMO, she shares so much of herself in her performances, which are so nuanced and reach the audience right at their core. It’s very special. I’m so grateful that we get to watch her do her thing like the absolute badass boss bish she is!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🐐❤️❤️❤️❤️

In my 51 years of living i have been very faithful to CBS soaps !!!! Been watching them since i was little bitty ! Love Love Love CBS day time soaps !!!!! Hope to see the Emmys on a regular channel this year !

Robert Scott Wilson absolutely should have been nominated! But they nominated two supporting performers in the category instead. RSW was miles better than at least 4 of the actual nominees, with maybe Wally Kurth, who belonged in supporting, giving better performances.

@@hasinethorpe993 the actors get to submit in whichever category they want - there is supposed to be oversight but there isn't any - so category fraud happens. Victoria Konefal is returning to the show in a few months time. Yes, RSW ought to have been nominated too. Lindsay Arnold will still be under 21 next year for the Younger Performer category and the scenes when Charlie raped Allie were Emmy-worthy for both of them!

I would like to congratulate the nominee for all the entertainment they bring to all the die hard soap and daytime viewers. I would love if the presentation of awards went back to the 80s 90s and past great excitement watching of all the actors who make us laugh, cry and wonder. Bring these Daytime awards show back. It was truly chilling and wonderful to hear and see our favorite stars.

I started watching soaps at age 5 in 1969 starting with GH in the days of the 7th floor and Steve and Jessie. I branched out over the next decades to watch everyone on every network at one time or another. I loved watching the Emmys every year and even started to save money at one point to actually go to the ceremony. But those days are long gone. Soaps dont make as much money as they used to and with today's fancy tech they cost even more to produce. So the networks dont really care to produce the award shows anymore. I think its sad for the actors because they work very hard in a dwindling industry today. But to be honest I find the Emmys today to be a joke. There are only 4 shows left and many awards seem to be given out for sympathy. And honestly the best show category IMO is the most disappointing. I think every show left is a mere shadow of what it used to be. I was down to watching only YR but I got so bored with the writing that I quit a few months ago. After watching GH for 46 years I quit in 2015 after Tony Geary left. I just cant take any more Corinthos Mob stories. And all my old GH faves are either dead or old as heck now. The Emmys just are not the same because the entire genre is not the same. The true quality is pretty much gone. The stories are haphazardly written. So much of the history has been long forgotten and the older veteran actors are still very disrespected and treated as either props or window dressing. Im done.

I love the Wyatt/Flo/Sally story, I started out feelin bad for Sally, to hating her, to my heart breaking for her & that is due to Darin & Courtney great work. I felt so bad for Sally, now she is on Y & R & I started out hoping they would really do a legit Sally/Jack romance but now Sally is being a bad girl who apparantly haven't learned from her mistakes. Poor Jack needs a love but back to hatin Sally again so nice work Courtney

i have alway's loved to certain award's show's every year, if it's the emmy's, the oscar's, the golden globe, the screen guild award's, i am really excited and overjoyed to see my favoroute soap of all time to actually win and to get as many emmy's toknight, i guess for me it has general hosptial, my favorite acter's are jonathon jackson, and tony geary, genie francis, and of courase maurice bernard. general hosptial you rock, rattle, and roll.

That's only if you like the mob stuff. I mean look at the canvas today. The stories with the most movement still revolve around Sonny, the Corinthos klan and the mob. Meanwhile just like over the last 20 years the veteran actors get marginalized. Most of the classic history of GH was gutten right after the year 2000 and it remains that way today. GH is the Corinthos Mob show. SMH

Not to get into politics, and I don't know if it has anything to do with talk shows. But did anybody notice that Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz were not nominated? Pretty telling... isn't it? See what happens when you make disgusting comments about Covid? See what happens when you go to bat for the former guy? As far as I'm concerned them not even getting a nomination for a daytime emy is well deserved for both of them. Also proves my point that no one, likes Dr. Phil. His fifteen minutes were up a long time ago.

This was really good, I would have loved to see Kelly Monaco nominated, I think she is great! Hope she will get a good story line this year. Great show!!! 15 of the 30 nominees interviewed!!! (: O.K., here is why I disagree with you about Wally Kurth being a Lead Actor on Days - the male characters who are leads on Days in 2020, who drove story and were on all the time, were Ben, Chad, Steve, Jake, Brady and borderline Will & Sonny, who had their own stories but weren't on quite enough to definitely be considered lead. Justin is on too infrequently to be a true lead. With that said I want Wally to win and feel better that he might win based on what he said was on his superb Emmy reel! Also: Supporting Actor ought to have been: Wally Kurth, Chandler Massey, Mike Manning, Freddie Smith, and Paul Telfer - all Days actors! Not one of them got nominated? It's my least favorite category this year - solid actors nominated, yes, but for me these 5 were superb and much much much more deserving! (Best Lead Actress is this year's best category, by far).

I think when they were first introduced they were one of the most romantic and dynamic couples in soap history. But over the years the magic has been lost IMO. I could still watch the Puerto Rican location shoots scenes after the shoot out when they did their from here to eternity homage on the beach. That was a classic. Claire Lebine was brilliant to blend the Corinthos Mob in with the Frank Smith Mob and Luke and Laura's return. It was just the shot in the arm GH needed in the mid 90s.

I hate that they make it like Brenda could never understand sonny mob business.. Brenda was there thru everything with sonny, she loved him more than herself at one point, why make her not conquer with sonny in the mob like they did Carly... The writers totally destroyed a powerful couple..
