I took at the linear ft product on the website. Looks like a great solution to my problem, but it's far too expensive for me right now. Maybe one day in the distant future. I'd LOVE to be a distributor here in Atlanta.

You can use white or some clear spray paints on glass for the same effect

Question: If one were to project onto this glass a full body character with a black background(AKA a transparent background for projectors), Could it look like it was there in real life? Aka a hologram?
@RickGladwin Жыл бұрын
A flat image might not be enough to feel like a hologram, but a 3D image plus eye tracking could do it. Johnny Lee demonstrates how to do this cheaply with a Wii here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5iudKV9q7ibkNU If you build this, post back here. Sounds like a cool idea.

@@RickGladwin I'm looking to animate an entire animal band to play music for a live concert. I'm not sure eye-tracking will work. *What if the glass surface was rounded?*

@@YowLife I don’t think a rounded screen would do what you want for members of the audience at the sides, though it would look good from the middle of the crowd. I thought about the kind of tricks that are done with lenticular lenses and lenticular prisms and tried to find a way to apply that to projectors and screens. I played with the geometry a bit on paper and I don’t think there’s any way to create an effect that will look 3D with one or more projectors and one or more screens. There would always be an angle, from somewhere in the audience, where part of the image the audience member is supposed to see is blocked, or they can see multiple angles at once, taking away the effect of looking like a single 3D shape. The main trouble is that the light coming from the image on the screen scatters in all directions, so you can’t control what part of the image is seen in any particular direction (which is necessary to create a hologram/3D illusion). Best you could do with just a projector and a flat screen like this might be to give the members of the audience those retro red/blue 3D glasses and combine two different angles (matching the distance between a person’s eyes, as if they were sitting in the audience) of the character into one image, split into red and blue colours, one for each angle. There’s software that can do this for you. If a prototype version of this looked good, it might be worth doing 3 screens, facing the left, middle, and right sides of the audience, and creating an image with two angles for each of those screens (right and left would look more side-on than the front image). One projector per screen, with the image for that screen.

The red/green separated image is called an anaglyph, apparently. Here’s an example created from a full-colour video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3aymnywndRoZ8k The 3D effect works better with more line-based or cartoony images, so it might work better for your purposes, especially if you can choose colours for the character specifically for this.

Hi, Do you know the model of the projector used in this video? I’m trying to gauge, if I buy the solution, how bright (lumens) a projector I’ll need. Thanks, Anton

The best paint to use for daytime would be vantablack with a professional has to do it for you or black 3.0 paint it takes 99.9% of reflection and holds it it won't let it back out so it is the darkest black paint in the world and it can be purchased on Amazon

If you want to project onto the front of the glass, spray the front.

Could u use that in a 90s rear projection tv to upgrade it's quality
@cathodelite6 жыл бұрын
Now that would be interesting. If u do the theory, yes it should be able to & get a better picture than the original. Why not just try car window tint film on a glass panel. How much tint, that u have to figure out urself.
