The slip bobber will never get old or forgot about. The simplicity of it makes it deadly and hearing new tips is always great! James holst you sir are so knowledgeable. Keep them vids coming!

Great video! I absolutely love slip bobbers for walleyes, and in the right conditions I think there's nothing that works better than a half a crawler or a leech set under a slip bobber!

Attention to detail as always is superb James, gotta love when a host will go "in-depth" to give advice on which leech to pick out of the tub ha ha. Love these short go angling videos, always something to be learned even in addition to leech selection.

@@in-depthoutdoors8677 Perks of being the host I suppose, when you are a walleye hammer like James who can doubt his expertise in leech choice.

You should do a quick informational video showing the different weeds we have here in MN. Not sure what you're talking about mr coontail but I'm sure I've seen it a thousand times!!

Here's a link to the MN DNR website where they go through many of the common submerged lake weeds w/ photos. www.dnr.state.mn.us/aquatic_plants/submerged_plants/index.html The video suggestion is a good one but the link to the DNR website provides immediate gratification.

This series is the best thing you guys have done in a long time. Short, descriptive and informational. You’re not cramming 3 minute long ad breaks per show. Awesome stuff! Gets me excited to see your notifications again!

Thanks John. Gander Outdoors has given us a lot of freedom with this new series and we're enjoying the new format. With a little luck Go Angling will be around for a long time.

Good stuff James , I'm headed out the day after tomorrow to give this a try on a newly opened walleye lake here in Alberta , which has had walleye in it for quite some time but are very hard to get to bite , I hope it'll be the winning ticket , and set a few hooks when others failed ... I'll be sure to let ya know how it went .... Thanks a bunch , as always great stuff !!!!

Great episode as usual! Quick question- do you use a bobber stopper or are the egg sinker and bobber running freely up the line until the sinker hits bottom?

Fishing a lake with a walleye slot helps. I'm sure there are a bunch of others who know exactly where you are fishing just as I do.

How fast do you go and how far away from the boat do put the bobber
@in-depthoutdoors8677
@in-depthoutdoors8677 5 жыл бұрын
We're not moving the boat when we're fishing slip bobbers. We prefer to use the spot lock on our Minn Kota trolling motor to hold position slightly upwind from the area we want to fish. We wanted the bobbers to stay right on the weed edge.

Alot of Pike as well? Or was the outside weed edge mainly walleye?
@in-depthoutdoors8677
@in-depthoutdoors8677 5 жыл бұрын
Mostly walleye. I'd guess 3 - 4 walleye for every snot rocket. Mix in a couple largemouth and a handful of decent gills and it made for a fun afternoon on the lake.

Hook through the sucker or wacky style???

Holst preferred wacky and Konnor hooked through the sucker and both methods seem to work equally well on that particular day.

is this rig alright for dirty water? it's been raining a lot here and the reservoir is never clear.
@InDepthOutdoorsTV
@InDepthOutdoorsTV 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. We use this rig with great success on bodies of water here in Minnesota that have dirty water like upper Red Lake and Lake of the woods. It might take the fish a little bit longer to find the bait due to the reduced visibility but once they do they'll eat it.

Dont you damage gills sticking fingers in there? Makes me cringe a little
@InDepthOutdoorsTV
@InDepthOutdoorsTV 5 жыл бұрын
No, not at all. Fish are held by gill covers not by the gills. Once you are experienced holding fish like that fingers do not touch delicate tissue and the fish can be held very securely. One of the most common causes of serious injury to a fish is being dropped by anglers that don't have a secure hold.
