Hi James: First of all thank you so much for speaking on this sensitive subject. As a black women. I understand where Porchia is coming from. Her comments were so well said but people can't really hear her because of the why she is being written. The angry black women, over the top, loud and all the other labels given to black women. But, I digress. I am sooo glad that it looks like Trina is going to get a storyline finally. . With the new actor of color .by the name of Jens Austin Astrup joining the cast as Trina,'s new love interest. He starts in November. This was confirmed in Deadline and SOD articles. I just hope the GH writers give her the opportunity to shine she soooo deserves it. Just my thoughts

@@sabrinahughes9699 Portia is actually acting like many soap mothers would but because she is black and so few black moms are on daytime, she is being called the angry black woman. I’m sad about that. She is not allowed to be like her white counterparts

The Stella and Portia scenes were amazing, but ultimately went nowhere. The Justice system still failed Trina and Portia had to take measures into her own hands to help free her child. The issue with the writing is the show goes to great lengths to uplift white characters and does nothing for the Black characters. Esme was set free, given a get out a jail free card writing wise with amnesia & a baby. Heather was given a poisonous hip. Why? To make them ppl the audience can root for. While the Black characters are often victimized and given no Justice. TJ’s kidnapping, Curtis being shot, Trina almost going to prison, etc… These conversations around race can’t only be Black ppl talking to each other. We know what’s up. White ppl need to be in these conversations as well. Why not have Ric in this conversation, reflecting? You can’t tell me there’s not intent here…it’s performative. A throw away line that won’t come up again until the next time they write a Black person being railroaded by the Justice system… Also, Trina fans just want good story. We’re not clamoring for her to have equal episode counts as Sonny or Carly. We know that’s not going to happen. But can we get scenes where she’s allowed to express herself to ppl outside her family or joss? And when she does speak out, can she not apologize the next day or call herself a bitch? Pieces of story and performative dialogue isn’t good enough. Shouldn’t the Black audience demand more? A lot of ppl are tired of settling for the bare minimum…Btw, the Trina’s voice matters hashtags has been around since the spring, it’s not just being used for this situation.

I'm Italian and I don't see "us" portrayed other than being in the "mafia" so I know how it feels to not be seen and heard! Not every Latin individual is an "illegal alien" and not every native American is "from the tribe"! We need to have these great moving conversations in order to come together as a people of many kinds. We all don't think alike but we can show all sides of the issues in a storytelling format. This is me just sayin'!!!!

If GH is going to do a story about race, then they should dive in. I think these side conversations between aren’t really serving the subject of race and racism well. There was a perfect opportunity to tell a story about race after Tabyana Ali’s incident at the Emmys. Joss and Trina could have been dolled up and someone could have said something hurtful to Trina. People in town could have rallied around her like Tabyana’s cast did. It would have been a great opportunity for art to imitate life and have educate the audience at the same time.
@JLJMedia
@JLJMedia 6 күн бұрын
@@luthermace7813 we could all suggest 100 different scenes to talk about race but I don’t think that’s the point. This scene was about black parents having a discussion about their black daughter that they feel was the main target of Heathers because of Esme. So in this case I have no problem with them adding it to their Conversation
@luthermace7813
@luthermace7813 6 күн бұрын
@@JLJMedia what’s happening is these side conversations are falling on deaf ears. The audience isn’t understanding that this is what (some) Black people talk about privately. I remember how polarized the audience was when Portia and Jordan talked after Cam had his gun pointed at Jordan. The chatter was why are they making this about race? My larger point is if the show wants to do a storyline about race, then full throat it. Don’t introduce threads that go nowhere. Follow in the Agnes Nixon model. Tell the full story.

@@luthermace7813 again falling on some audience deaf ears….. my point isn’t about the larger picture. I’m simply addressing this scene and how I don’t have a problem with it. And again I say on camera i understand some of the audience being weary because of past writing regimes. I’m watch soaps, I’m completely aware. I’m also weary of all of the Beyond the Gates glorifying.

@@JLJMedia If characters and dialogue are suppose to be a gateway into a point of view, then it’s up to the writers to fully exercise it. I appreciated the conversation but I have a particular lived experience so it lands differently with me. What about the millions who don’t have that experience? The scene is likely going to feel preachy and whiny because the writers aren’t providing enough context.

HOLD UP James! GH head writers are Elizabeth Korte & Chris Van Etten. They are NOT new to the GH writing scene but writing for GH for YEARS . They have done a very poor job writing for SPRINA, Trina & Tolly( TJ / Molly) .They can’t write good storyline for interracial couples and black characters . This is why there are no excuses for GH writers and why I will be Team SPRINA, Trina and Tolly. Molly cheating again with Brando aka Dex got to go. If Elizabeth & Chris can’t make Trina & Kai or GIO work from Nov 2024- Summer 2025, GH writers need to bring actor Nicholas Chavez back for 1-4 weeks of pre tape scenes so SPRINA can unite, we’d & leave Port Charles.

If you heard the words that came out of my mouth, I said ,none of the soaps treat black characters the same as the white ones. And my point about the new writing regime was that Miss Korte wasnt a head writer before and they have added some new breadown writers. And there is a chain of command that starts with the NETWORK HEADS. Most of the time the writers are writing what they are told to write.
