Thought I would add that you can run this sub and either a 4 ohm or one ohm configuration. Not sure how he got a half ohm... That said, these subs work great in small enclosures AND large enclosures. Just remember that large enclosures use less power

Hey do you think the ultimax 8 would beat a jl audio 8w3v3 in a small wedge box under a 2001 GMC Sierra ext cab seat? I like the way the jl sounds but it doesn't get enough power from my amp to be loud enough. Only about 125 watts at 4 ohms.

Also the place my amp is mounted is under the dash on a custom bracket so it would not be easy to replace. The ultimax could pull 250 watts from my kicker amp at 2 ohms though so it might beat it in output.

I’m not sure, you would have to find a 2 ohm speaker that matches jl audio sub, so the box tuning and all works. But if you don’t care about any of that then I don’t see what’s stoping you. Also I’m sorry if my answer seems vague I’m in a rush right now.

These sound better than my TOTL JL 8's. More musically accurate and they do acceptable SPL for me.

Isnt that box to big, UM8's have a high Qts and need a small sealed box under 1/2 Cf(.35 is recommended). Are you still running this in your Chevy? still going strong?

The inside volume adds up to the recommended volume for a sealed box. Also this is no longer in a Chevy it’s fixing to go in a GMC.

The actual parameters are quite off. Qts is above .7 IIRC and Fs is higher as well. I've tested two of them with a DATS and from summary, they make excellent rear deck subs (IB).

@@B15SDMDESIGNS generally yes you will find going ported with high Qts will involve smaller box volume with long ports which can cause port resonances in the speakers passband hence using passive radiators to alleviate it, open baffle designs often use high Qts drivers once you go over .7

@@bosshawg7427 Dayton did have trouble with spec's not being correct with the factory who was making them changing things... but you would expect that after many years of production, thats why they have new designs released recently.

There is no way to run one of those at .5 ohm it’s either 4 or 1 ohm that’s it man.

I have a mini mojo 8 and I love it I didn't pay full price of it if I did id be underwhelmed because for 260 u can get a CT sounds or fi audio or American bass sub that's actually cheaper goes in the same size box and takes about double the port if u want to do it right so like 2 4in ports the box will be bigger but only by about .4 cubic feet give or take I paid 110 for mine used a 4in aeroport tuned it to 36 and it gets down in the 20s and up to the 40s is sounds amazing for what it is it definitely hits in the ball park of a small 10 maybe better like a comp c or comp r from kicker but all in all it sounds great I put it in my moms 2022 kona and it's very close to bringing down the mirror

I should clarify its not about to make it fall off but I've had 2 12s in it on amili and the rear view just ended up pointing down and this sub is not far off the box was a bit to big for the sub by about .07 or .1 so I stuffed some polly fill in to reduce any resonances and lower the box size by a bit for more cone control im 15 currently this was my moms mother's day gift
