I love these! Placing them on a hinged surface (cardboard box flap) let’s you change sound so dramatically by just experimenting with how open/closed that flap is. Smooth analogue range on (ironically) a high-end/higher-cost speaker’s box! Lol! “Hmm... maybe the cardboard it comes in makes better sound than the the speaker?” If you have an exciter, find a sheet metal pole-barn! I used a tiny “Vibe-it” to turn my buddy’s *big* metal barn into a crisp speaker for a party. You’ll have a lot of fun testing these out in the country. Cheers to good times!

This is an extremely useful video for me, because i plan to use the very same set of exciters stuck on to the foam insulation (XPS) boards, as a set of speakers for my living room, driven by the very same Yamaha Home Cinema Amplifier. Very glad i stumbled upon it.

How did your project work out for you?
@themorawaboy3 жыл бұрын
@@qua7771 Well to be honest, those XPS panels sounded horribly. Tinny, and hollow. I suppose the foams used here are not the same (density and rigidity-wise) as the ones i have used, though i must say: visually they do really look similar. I don't recommend the XPS panels for the exciters.

honestly a good use i would see for these is not playing music at home, but commercial use would be great in a small store to make for virtually invisible speakers for publicity, talking or low volume music, you could throw them under desks and whatnot to male the place really clean

I build custom large scale RC cars and I’ve done a few with wireless stereo systems in them.. my latest one is a compact Bluetooth speaker crammed into an intercooler for my 1/7 scale Skyline build! It also plays car engine sounds apart from music.. I’m currently building a custom Bugati Bolide and I was considering using an exciter that I would mount directly to the underside of the lexan body! That way the sound is Omni directional and possibly louder than a regular speaker enclosure. What are your thoughts on that?
@toysforboysrc9 ай бұрын
..I’m also going to be buying an AXIAL SCX6 RC Jeep crawler soon! It’s HUGE as it’s a 1:5 scale!! With all that available space, I’m definitely going to build something cool with that! So I just stumbled across a “TRANSDUCER” square speaker,.. I never seen something with that name but it’s a regular speaker, so how come it’s called a “TRANSDUCER”??

With how thin they are I'd imagine 16 gauge. Tbf though, the speaker is only receiving 25W RMS, so that should be plenty.

Hei man have you connect the exciter one side to the Right output and other side to Left output right?
@matthewclara13 жыл бұрын
No, it's positive and negative, just one channel. To do it "right" you need another exciter for the other channel. They're only $10 a piece, though, so that's do-able!
@mmgbtvАй бұрын
you probably have that on an 8ohm terminal? making it vibrate and will fry your receiver, since it's a 4ohm exciter.
@stephenmcbride63593 жыл бұрын
I am thinking of exciters with sonotubes. Decide your Skin/ reed on the top( either a drum skin, tuned and tighened, or something else. The tube vibrates to create sound. But also the note created at the top of the tube, if long enough, accentuates instead of canceling low end bass notes. I believe the tubes could ring like tuned bells if set up right.My last set of speakers were conventional in respect to drivers. The box however was a folded horn transmission line.Imagine a saxaphone. You can even put the reed pipe(say 6' in) then put an 8-10' on the outside to create the proper bass tube lenth. tuned like a pipe organ.

Dayton actually sells a "Bone Conducting Exciter" which creates sound by vibrating the bones of your skull. Very wild stuff.
@christerjohanzzon4 жыл бұрын
Mount them properly onto a wooden panel, and you'll get proper quality sound. Metal is no good, and you wont get proper sound by just holding it like so. There is a project video here on youtube, where a guy is comparing different materials for these exciters, I think oak and plywood had the best audio. And I think he went on to do a exhibition in Canada with spilled materials from a sawmill, that he mounted these exciters on to..and created a orchestra. Pretty cool stuff..

@Luke-qs2cg2 жыл бұрын
Most real amps people would use with something like this, are easily able to handle 4 ohm. Not handling 4 ohm is a cheap home receiver issue. Even some of the cheapest actual audio amps are designed for 4 ohm loads
