Interesting note on Austin Hill; I was riding along with the 21 via NASCAR's in-car camera on NASCAR's website when he won. On the cool-down lap, I saw Creed pull up alongside him and give him a gentle congratulatory bump on the side. Hill then gestured a thumbs up in his direction when the camera went to the cock-pit camera that is mounted to one of the cross-member bars next to the driver. I don't know if FOX captured that moment, but I guess the two of them seem to have gotten over their deal from Martinsville. We'll see how they'll do as the season goes along.

FOX did t really capture anything on the track. Anytime a driver made a move, they changed the camera view while the commentators rambled about their own experience. (I’ve seen those guys race, I want to see the race they’re supposed to be covering.

What caused the controversy to me was that Fox showed the angle at first with Bowman ahead and the caution light was on. Fox kinda shot themselves in foot by showing that as the very first image. I had an idea it was Byron anyway but maybe be careful what you show on tv in regard to the finish especially to the Daytona 500.

Come on EE Ross definitely deserves to be in the top 10! Some of your criteria you kept pointing out: 1- He led laps in the Daytona 500 2- He was taken out by a crash while battling for the lead through no fault of his own (debatable maybe but that was on Lajoie doing his best JHN lap 6 impression). Unlike Blaney he was battling for the lead with 1 lap to go. Also a couple of points: Ross did an amazing job during the last green flag run\pit sequence of getting out front and holding both lanes back with some excellent defensive driving! That was some next level stuff! Also I feel like he would have competed for the clash if nor for the speeding penalty

As for Byron being in the #1 spot -- I thought Larry McReynolds summed it up well after the race. Most drivers run strong on certain tracks. Whereas, Byron seems capable of winning anywhere.

I don’t know how Bowman isn’t at minimum Top 2? Power Rankings are solely based on the new season and Bowman has arguably been the best. 6th in The Clash, 3rd in his Duel, and 2nd in the 500. Only guy you could put over him is Byron.

How is video of the leaders at the time of caution is like the Zapruder film? Last lap of the Daytona 500, and FOX decided to pick that moment not to have any of its 22 cameras trained on the leaders? I think not.

The wreck was actually chastains fault by coming down to shoot the middle and Austin came up a little. But it's really just a racing deal.

Hey Eric 😁 love your work watch everyday from Australia keep it up mate 👍 but how can you move Kyle Busch down a spot ? 2nd at the clash and was the show of the race at Daytona ? Was up front all night went the the back multiple times and just drove back to that front, there was one restart he got sent to the back and went past 25 cars in a few laps on the outside he wanted that 🏆 badly he was aggrieved all night 😎 Kyle Busch fan obviously 😅 what are your thoughts ?

The true controversy is, why did the flag man not throw the caution? Why did the flag man do the caution after they cross start finish line? Look from the in car footage, the amount of time is grotesque. Somebody needs to be fired.

The only thing I have with the timing of the caution I knew for a fact Chastain and or Cindric were gonna slide up into the field after what I saw from Burton and Hocevar had. It would have been tough to throw it before the white but that’s my take.

Only changes I would made are Elliott Bowman Logano and Blaney Blaney is streaky, but to start year, I would say 4th Chase is having a bounce back year after last year, but is still one of the best drivers, so I would say 7th Logano has been down the last few years since Next Gen car. Only 1 win last year and finished outside top 5 in points, so I would say around 6th And finally Alex Bowman is a good driver when healthy, I would say 9th

But watching from Alex Bowman’s in-car camera, the caution light doesn’t come on until he’s clearly ahead, by least half a car length or more. If this photo is real, does this mean the caution lights aren’t perfectly synced and don’t automatically start flashing at the same exact second? Go watch the footage and answer that question

My take would be that Corey also had to be careful to not go below the lines. he made a move, and then thought better of it. The block is what caused. Even Steward called out the blocking years ago, but nobody pays attention. The pay for blocking is an evil you must live with if you decide to block.

Being at the track i had a pretty good view and i never once thought bowman won, i just wanted to be sure they took the white. I was shocked when i got home and i saw the comments about people thinking bowman won. Seems like the broadcast needed to show a definitive angle… but i also think they need to let them race back to the line unless there is a flip or fire / catastrophic looking crash. Frustrating but i know it can be a tough call.

I do have a problem. Suarez spins and immediately the caution flew with him spinning on the apron. He never got a chance to move into traffic. There is no consistency for NASCAR on when they fly the caution flag. 2024 Daytona could have gone into overtime, but because they swallowed the caution flag for even a second, the field passed the line. Never will we know if it was possible to rack them up again. In my opinion, NASCAR blew it again.
