@@gordocarbo it's very light. Haven't had it on a scale but I'm sure less than 2700lbs (I have a caged track car that for sure weighs more and it has been weighed at 2880). Power to weight is a little wild, can easily smoke the tires in third. I'm 6'4", but it took a lot of modifications to make this build fit me.

@@singlemaltwsky What a great project for a father and son! You will cherish those many hours forever. My Dad and I built boats, airplanes and houses together, from when I was a little boy to when I was a grown-ass man. He used to tell me, "You know that you're getting old when your kids start looking middle aged." He and his friends could do anything that they set their minds to, and it was an education just to be around them. As a child, they always gave me the tedious, labor intensive jobs, like I sandblasted an airplane frame. Taught me patience. They were engineers even though they lacked formal training. He has been gone for a decade now and I continue on with the projects, but not a day goes by that I don't miss him. My daughter is looking middle aged...gulp.

@singlemaltwsky
@singlemaltwsky 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Clara! Yeah, we wanted to be different on this and stray from the typical race replica build. The engine is a 347 Windsor stroker using the Scat stroker kit, forged pistons and conrods. Victor Jr heads that we adopted from a drag racer, not sure the exact model number but they breath like crazy. Running MSD throttle-body EFI, MSD 6AL ignition. Transmission is a T56 magnum 6sp mated to a Ford 8.8 rear with carbon clutch LSD. The rear end ratio is very tall at 3.27, we are planning to change that spring 2020 to something a bit more lively.

@@singlemaltwsky Bet you cant use 6th at all with those tallish gears. 4.11 min if you have a 26 in tall tire would turn the wick up...or 4.30s if you can turn some rpm
@singlemaltwsky
@singlemaltwsky 2 ай бұрын
@@gordocarbo actually 6th is great for hwy cruising. Lumbers along just below 1500rpm and brings the noise and fuel consumption way down. A 4.11 in the back would just mean more easily vaporized tires, they already can't deal with the power to weight.

Fair to ask. 1) in Canada you can't get the complete kit, only the basic Canadian kit. 2) There is a TON of custom work in this car, huge list. Those custom pieces take a crazy amount of hours. There are approx 4000 hours invested in this car to make it what it is (all custom interior, chassis reworks, custom metal panels, custom windows.....the list is very big)

@@singlemaltwsky I bet!! 347 with even a moderate cam and good heads makes plenty of power no need for a big block Noticed how far behind the front axle the engine is. bet it goes around a corner real well! Hood with air venting is just killer! The Fan Man and others make rubber flaps you can mount on your fan shroud so at higher speeds it has somewhere to go rather than piling up in the fan area. They sell different sizes very easy to install.

I am trying to decide between the coupe or the roadster. I have heard that the coupe is much louder that the roadster because of the roof and drone that occurs inside. Can you comment on this and how loud it is? Thanks
@singlemaltwsky
@singlemaltwsky 3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion this all depends on the exhaust you fit. Ours has a set of Flowmaster laminar flow long-tubes that were made for side-pipe applications, I don't think they make them anymore? We do have a drone at about 2100RPM, but it can easily be worked around when cruising to be a couple hundred RPM away from that zone with our 6-speed. People fitting simple glass packs have REALLY loud cars, ours is very manageable. My advice is to go with the car you like, the sound can be addressed as you build and test.

Yes - this is a component car sold from Factory Five Racing. There are only 6 originals of the 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe, so if you see one it's most likely a replica. This build is an attempt to see what it would have been like if Ford had picked up the Shelby Coupe and made a road going version, the original 6 were all straight race cars.

Hey Bruce! FFR will supply a chassis code to you as well as import paperwork for the sale of car parts etc. For the VIN, in Ontario this is issued by the province when you register the car as a home built kit....I'm not sure its the same in BC? Insurance is tricky, took a while to find an outfit that would insure the car as it is not technically a production machine. PM me if you want to chat on the subject, glad to help.
