Daytona USA Arcade - Advanced Course

On my first try at this game in arcade is when the machine was set to maximum volume, and that extra sound your car emits when entering the tunnel just left me goosebumps. No wonder this was such a hit back then

I remember the noise of a 4-person arcade setup exceeding the slot machines. The moving chairs were awesome those days...

@@rcruz2008 That eight car setup was awesome! It was rare that all eight seats would fill up at my local arcades. Most was usually around six players at once. But even that was awesome! Plus in the demo mode, it was really cool when the video would show pan to show the entire grill of the car spanning all eight screens.

I totally agree. That echo of the engine in the long tunnel on the advanced track goes right through your body, all the way down to your deepest bone. Spinning around and driving the track in reverse, you’re going uphill in that tunnel and you can really hear the engine working hard and creating that awesome echo.

I dropped hundreds of dollars on this game back in the day (at Rocky's Replay) I was great at any track and was hardly unbeatable..that is if no one cheated (clean racing no bumping). 8 car arcade hook up and I used to play the black car

Surprisingly I wasn't able to find this game at an arcade until 2021 and I pretty much spent all the money I had on that card arcades give you now on it 🤣

I mean, the game is two decades old, unless it's a very old arcade center, chances of finding a daytona arcade is close to zero. I am not exaggerating, I hunted every arcade centers in every mall I visited, I only found 5 fully functioning (undamaged, intact controls) daytona arcades in my exploration in a very, very long timespan (probably 2018 all the way to the present) The original one and daytona 2 arcade are a guaranteed bust (due to their age, so damage is expected), but the sega rally classic cabinet has a good chance of being in good condition, and the championship remaster is a guaranteed to be fully functioning 1 place has the original arcade and a sega rally classic, it was fully functioning, but it's too far away from my reach 1 place has the championship remaster arcade, but it got taken out few years later on my second/third/fourth visit 1 place has the championship remaster arcade, but not sure if it's still there in the present 1 place has the sega rally classic arcade, it was very recent discovery, I've locked myself in on that location, the arcade staff said the arcade center receives old, leftover arcades from other places, which is true because I found scud race, F-Zero GX (The steering wheel is wack and the boost button is busted, it's impossible to finish the race), and Outrun 2 arcade cabinets there

Not sure if it would still be supported. But, Xbox360 has a fantastic version of Daytona available to download (legit the only reason I bought the 360 lol) where you used to be able to play multiplayer via Xbox Live. I let my subscription run out a few years ago, so I couldn’t tell you if the multiplayer is still supported. It’s an arcade perfect port with polished graphics, 60fps, and little to no pop up. It’s come a long way from the original port on the Saturn lol.

Me and my pals nicked a load of money out of this machine in Ryde Isle of Wight arcades because the worker "ivan" left the keys in the machine and forgot about it and walked off. ah good times growing up in the 90s , we were little bastards. :)

Soo many awesome memories with all my cousins and friends at arcades with this game. Beginner was fun Advanced was the jam and expert only was attempted when arcade was slow so avoid the embarrassment 😂 man when you got the drift down with manual setting you already learned how to drive a real car 🚗

Hahaha, sounds like me. I really hate the design of the Expert track too, it's just not very satisfying. So I always put my $$$ on the first two instead.

I can never seem to get the car to drift around the penultimate corner. Is there a trick to it that makes it different than the others?

Similar to the others. Just whip the wheel right and shift into first gear at the same time. You'll need to keep it in that gear for a second or two before shifting it to third. Shifting to third too early will mean you'll drift less, enter the turn too fast and go wide to the grass.

I remember mastering this game back in the day. Spent a fortune but no regrets. 10 laps on time trial (no other cars) @ 42 sec per lap. There was a way to get a faster standing start with the pedals plus 2-4 gear shifts all the way round is the only way to go
