I did a timing belt and water pump on the Hyundai V6, very similar approach. Except I put a little crease in the water pump gasket so had to do it 2 times lol. Tip: Fill with coolant before reassembling absolutely everything. 😢😂

The USB plugs are on cables which you attach to the back of the unit. The cables are about 1M long so you can pull them through your dash/centre console anywhere you like

Normal tap fittings. I had to change it as the supplied hose wasn't quite long enough to reach my tap.

Piss easy timing belts to replace. About as easy as they get. Come and do one on my Renault Megane which need special tools to lock cams and crank and there are no keyways on any pullies 😂 Easy when you know how, a bad day if you mess it up though…

I like the AU, but love the VT too.. both brilliant cars. I have a 2003 VY I use for traveling and the engine still makes that nice roar, its smooth with plenty of power. I wouldn't push it to hard though, but If I had an AU, I'd definitely push it because its 24 valve straight 6, they can be pushed and generate great power and longevity. However, the ecotech is only 2 valves per cylinder and isn't an original supercharged V6, so pushing it would be catastrophic

That's a big job for your first timing belt. You did well. My first was when I blew a water pump on a Friday night. Grabbed the pump and belt kit Saturday morning from work, had it all apart that afternoon, and back together Sunday afternoon, so I could get to work Monday morning. I didn't worry about doing the cam seals either. Looks like a right angle impact wrench would be a good investment for getting those cam pulleys off though.

Can I record video on my smartphone through a wall (via WiFi) infinitely until the smartphone's memory card runs out?
@MotoringBoxTV6 күн бұрын
Not really, whenever you hit record there's a maximum recording time (2-minutes I think) before the recording ends. You can hit record again immediately, but yes, it won't just keep going indefinitely.

@@MotoringBoxTVThank you! I will clarify my question. My task is that if the camera is stolen from the car, the video from the camera remains with me. Can the camera record this incident immediately remotely, say, through the Wi-Fi, on a smartphone that is in the house next to the car?

I personally couldn't be bothered to muck around with the flash units. Simplicity is bliss, and there are options out there to add a bit of pep to the factory style units.

Nice work, I'm avoiding but should become an expert once / if I get through the fleet 2x tj wagon TL awd vr. I'm happy to see the fights not edited out. Remove rad and fan for alternator access would be my comment from my engine bay fights and win. Also ratchet spanners are cheaper than therapy, treat yourself to a metal trim removal tool (way more uses than trim) and a set of toledo pick tools changes everything. Engine bay grief try an EJ turbo straight to the shop.

Thanks for this video! I used your vid to install Bluetooth in my 2002 MG-ZTT. It has a similar Alpine head unit but with some differences. The cassette board was unlabelled but looking through the bottom of the case I saw that the main board was labelled underneath at the 20 pin connector. I cut an access hole so that I could see the labelling and soldered my wires directly to the cassette board side of the connector. It worked first time, but an empty cassette case didn't stop the constant reversing. I ended up just leaving a blank cassette tape in the player and now it works flawlessly! Thanks again!

Sean you did your best with the tools you had so good on you for giving it a go. However after seeing your frustration with breaking a part, the water pump bolt didn’t wanna do its job, the amount of crap you have to remove to do the job and not having the right tools its sometimes better to have the pros do it. As you know it’s important to do this particular job and you have to get it right the first time, as this is an interference engine. I’m about to have mine done, I purchased the kit and I’ll remove most of the external parts to allow the mechanic to get onto the more critical components and save a few bucks, my Pajero is the 6G75. I, like you, enjoy being able to say I did it myself but with some jobs its ok to let a mechanic do certain things, he has the training, the right tools like the SST, and he’ll be the one to knock the job over in a few hours while you’re doing the more important things to you, and everything would have been replaced. Top little video of your work!!!

My 1 cent... This is the easiest modern layout "big engine fwd" to work on. Give it more time, you dived into one of the hardest jobs to do on it right off the bat. You have done ok considering and had the balls to show us what when wrong! Cudos to you mate!! Loosen the bolts on the cams before you crack the crank, use the old belt to hold the engine still with a breaker braced on the crank timing/ main bolt. Impacts crack them easy then. I have done heaps of these and that what I do. Hope that helps someone!

Great work Sean - I consider myself to have a semi-decent level of mechanical aptitude but the prospect of replacing a timing belt is incredibly daunting. I’ve replaced cam sprockets on my 5.4 V8 Fairlane and that was stressful enough making sure the chain went back on in the right place. You’ve done a great thing putting so much time and effort into this car and it’s awesome to see how far it’s come under your care.
