I agree with the first part, he rescued another version of him. But the label said ‘cope’, so it was a coping mechanism which he released. That version of him immediately stabbed him and took over his life. Then another version was shown, who survived up as well. Even though he is still locked up (for now). Label says ‘hope’. He planted a seed, which means there’s hope to redeem himself to his fullest expression. Despite of his coping mechanism.

His hope tried to embrace his despair even in their lowest moment, but his despair ended up killing his hope. But the seed of hope still remains, so even when his world is in ruins, he can start to rebuild. The beginning of the video kind of flows through from the end also, if you watch it in a loop. If you’ve been through hard times, this is exactly what it is like trying to pick yourself up and keep going. Amazing! Beautiful. Most music videos have such broken storytelling, it’s very hard to understand what they are supposed to be about, or the production doesn’t match the tone of the lyrics. This is one of the clearest music videos I have ever seen, and it matches the lyrics too. It is also so full of meaningful details. Xiao Zhan is a true artist.

This kinda reminds me of Adam Lambert’s Better Than I Know Myself where he managed to tame his demons and darkness as shown by the end of the MV as he approaches the camera and us seeing him with one yellow eye (his inner demons) while the other is blue (his natural eye colour) but for Zhan’s/Sean’s Wild; it’s as you’ve beautifully written. His hope lost to his despair yet, there’s still a chance or an actual hope that Sean would triumphant in controlling his despair like Adam succeeded in taming his inner demons. Another reminder would be 2NE1’s Come Back Home. Although the lyrics are more about fighting for the lover’s return to the girl’s side to break free from this dystopian/dysfunctional world they live in. Also, this gives me a movie reminder; Christian Bale’s Equilibrium. But like in BTIM, Christian was triumphant over the lies of the almost perfect world he lived in.
