Great video. I discovred 4 new Italian songs because of it. Love them. We are going to Abruzzo in May. Those songs will be the songs of our trip. Thanks!

This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and am very pleased to have done so. Loved the format and music. We are on our way in March to visit family in Chieti and can hardly wait. Thanks for the information as even if we have been in Abruzzo several times it is always nice to see it through others eyes and explore an area we had not previously thought of.

Amazing! My Mother's family was from Lettopalena. My Grandparents (Croce and Ascolina Martinelli) came to the U.S. in the late 1920's. One day I will visit the Motherland and hopefully find my family there. Grazie e Arrivederci!

Not sure which video you were watching. I agree that rap (American or Italian) would not go with this video at all. There is only normal Italian music here, some older songs and a couple more recent.

@@abuzzaboveitaly Well it sound rap to me, very few notes and a lot of nonsensical rhyme, it didn't go with the view, but that is my opinion, .. Then again, what do I know.

Glad you liked the video. It is sad about Lettopalena. I’m surprised the story isn’t better known. But the nazis did so much evil that maybe this just gets lost in the rest of the tragedies.

I love your videos! Can’t wait until the next one! Do you ever think of buying a house in Fara or near Fara?
@abuzzaboveitaly
@abuzzaboveitaly Жыл бұрын
Glad you like the videos! In an ideal world, a house in Fara or Abruzzo would be amazing. Unfortunately, we are still tied to normal jobs here in the States for now and we hear that the visa situation for living there can be a paperwork nightmare. In the meantime we try to visit at least once a year. Once retirement comes we will try to stay the max 3 months for sure. I am trying to finish the next video as I write this. I am still new at making these and it takes me a lot longer than it should. They are hard because until this year I never thought of making any public videos. We just made photo books to remember the trip (hence the focus on photos instead of videos... can't wait to go again to focus more on videos) The next video will be on Modica in Sicily. (We are also big Sicily fans) Ciao!

Hi - sorry for the delayed reply, we were out of town for a while! That's funny you asked this, someone else did a little while ago too. It is a tough question and a lot depends on what kind of facilities you want nearby. A small town can be rustic and homey but not have a lot of the conveniences that you may want - grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Fortunately, there is usually another town within 15-20 minutes so maybe it wouldn't be as big a deal. Sulmona is a bigger town and pretty centrally located. It has a lot of the modern conveniences but can still retain the small Italian town charm in places. Or a town close to Sulmona could work out. We really liked Pescocostanzo and Palena too. Towns like Fara San Martino and Lettopalena are probably too small for what we would look for - they are nice but don't have a big choice in restaurants, bars, piazzas, etc. One channel I would really recommend is AHomeInItaly. He shows a lot of houses in Abruzzo and has a weekly live stream where he answers questions too. Good luck in your search, we are jealous!

This is a terrific video, thanks so much. A question. My husband and I are planning a trip to Abruzzo in the fall. Am I right in assuming that renting a car is pretty much essential or is there regular bus service between hillside town?. If having a car is essential, how challenging is the driving? Lots of traffic? Hairpins mountain turns?
@abuzzaboveitaly
@abuzzaboveitaly Жыл бұрын
Hi - so glad you liked the video! I would definitely recommend renting a car. There is some public transport but the schedules aren't super regular and finding a bus to go to where you want might be a challenge. (It would be a little easier if you spoke good Italian, but that won't change the schedules or anything) Driving is pretty easy for the most part and it is easy to find your way around. There isn't a lot of traffic or many big highways so you don't have to worry about being highbeamed by a Ferrari or anything. There are lots of signs and if you do miss a turn, worst case you go 5 minutes to an unintended town and turn around. The roads are well maintained and we haven't had any scary edge of cliff driving or really tight S curves on a hillside. Getting around in the small towns is probably more of a hassle because the roads can be narrow and have surprise one way directions. Have a great time on your trip! If you have any other questions just let me know.
