This is actually a legitimate sniper tactic, I call it “keyholing” ‘cause you usually have to fire between a lot of non-targets like trees and buildings. Most of these aren’t spots to camp but they’re good to use in the event you have targets in the areas these locations give you overview of. Always adapt and move after every 1-2 shots. Make your enemy think there’s 10 snipers, not just you. If you have a buddy, separate when cosniping to cover eachother from your most likely avenues of retaliation in the event the enemy returns fire. Maximizing your reach, prioritizing your safety, and ensuring you have an escape route is the best way to do this sort of ambush. Don’t sit at the edge of a tree line like a scrub every time - risk a further shot and guarantee your own safety by taking a few meters jog back into the foliage, and fire between multiple trees. Obscure yourself. Survive, Evade, Resist, and Escape. Survive by securing your nest. Evade by going into alternative positions after your first shots are fired. Resist by stomping out any return fire or counter snipers. Escape with the loot, or your life. Sometimes killing an opponent and running is smarter. Take the W’s you can manage, and play it safe to ensure your longevity. Risking going to loot the enemy can work in certain circumstances, just try to gather as much info about your surroundings before you go to claim your kill. Know the terrain, plan a route to the loot, and a route to escape with it. Coordinate cover fire with your friend if you have one. I hope to see more skilled marksmen in Chernarus. Best of luck to you, my friends.

That's true. I believe the correct name for it is called loophole shooting.

These are great. A good view is only half the importance of a great position. Escape or flanking options are the other half. Alot of "sniping" position videos are within 150m, so close to your engagement falling back or flanking becomes a risk in itself. Flanking and falling back should not increase a sniper's risk it should only provide more advantage and progressively more options or cover.

In my early days on Dayz I had built an amazing base upon those rocks at navpoint for the sniper location overlooking Myshinko military base. I was the old man on the mountain and nevr left the impenetrable snipers nest that overwatched the main base in the lumber yard located I believe north of the millitary base. It provided defense to HQ. Raids were to put simply a form of free gear that delivered to the front door. LOL Good times.🤓
