🩹😜 Guy here: My forehead is totally fine; just a little cut to glue up. The main horizontal bar of the helm is positioned to protect my eyes, but I still recommend helms with criss-crossing bars. It really is safer than it looks, and other helms add further to that.

Girls can take part - but it isn't divided into gender categories from what I can see and that means you're putting yourself at an increased risk because of the biological differences between men and women. Women have much less dense bones, a smaller, lighter skeletal structure, smaller lungs, less reach and less of certain kinds of muscles. That all adds up to less strength and a far greater risk of serious injury - especially if your opponent is larger, with that denser skeleton, longer reach and different muscle groups to give more strength with more weight behind it. I think it's great that girls can do it too but I definitely don't think it's fair, or safe, for women to compete directly against men in what is potentially deadly combat.

Nah but id love to do it I do go gym and I like things like that for example boxing love it, I have a decent pain tolerance too. Tbh though I live in a small town and there probably wouldn’t be anything like this near me. I’m deffo gonna check thought just incase. But I do understand also their could be like fkin 6’3 men their alot bigger then me and stronger then me that could probably squish me if they wanted too, but I feel like if it was like a 1 v 1 situation they would put me with someone closer to my size if their are other people more my size. If their were like 2 six feet tall men I don’t think they would take one and put them with a girl a lot smaller, I think they would put them with the person closer to their size, but as a group when your doing it as a group then yeah I’d have to be prepared to get dropped. 😂😂😂but again I think I could deal with it pretty well for a girl my age and my size, I hate saying that bcuz it makes it look like I’m trying to show off which I’m not I just enjoy these kinds of activities/ hobbies/ sport

@@lilyoliver174 your height won't matter. As I said, men not only tend to be bigger, they have denser bones and more of a specific type of muscle in their arms that allows for increased strength. That doesn't mean you couldn't compete, of course, only that a man of your height/weight range would be at an unfair biological advantage and could very easily seriously injure you with a blow that would be much milder against a similarly sized male.

I remember going to a renaissance fare where there was one of these duels going on. I was interested in joining so I did and this lady came over, stuck one of the helmets on my head and then swung a bloody axe at my head and dented the metal. My ears were ringing and had a pounding headache but joined one of the duels. Was great fun but here in France they don't pull their hits at all. Had bruises after. I think the first hit knocked the senses out of me and was hilarious cause I told her to hit me again. 🤣🤣🤣
