I have just recently brought the Seekers Future Road album on Ebay, and it was worth every penny. It's fantastic, every track on it is superb. " The Bush Girl " is a particular favourite for it's heartfelt wonderful lyrics, but there again all songs are of incredible perfection. I remember liking their music way back in the 60's but when they split up I tended to forget all about them like a lot of people did I guess, until earlier this year when I rediscovered them on U-tube music videos and boy am I glad that I did. They have made so much great stuff. If only I had got back to them in the late 90's ( I'm kicking myself about that ) also I deeply regret the fact that I never got to see them perform live in a concert while they were in London. Oh' well that's life nevertheless many thanks marvellous U-tube.

The Bush Girl lyrics are an old poem by one of Australia's 19th century writers and poets - Henry Lawson. Lawson was a favourite of my father and uncles. They would quote his poems frequently. They encapsulated the life of ordinary Australian people in the country side and the city. The Seekers are singing a song with strong roots in Australia's story. The Seekers have healthly patriotic streak and that song is a good example. I also get moved by "with my swag all on my shoulder". It mentions the gold fields at Fiery Creek. My great grandfather was at Fiery Creek in the gold rush then was an early settler at the nearby town of Beaufort near Ballarat in Victoria. These songs bring my family history alive again.❤.

It’s so sad that the future road album isn’t available on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music... I cannot understand why (obviously licensing issues) but the world DESERVES to hear what a fantastic album this is. The Seekers sound as good in the 90s as they did in the 60s and honestly Judith’s voice to me sounds more confident and sure of itself with time gone by! What an amazing timeless group! At age 21 I can safely say the Seekers are probably my favourite band, everything they sing turns to gold!

You have to put it in the context of the times. People got married at 19,20,21,22 years old. She had a Society induced fear of becoming an ‘old maid’ at 26 years old and continuing to be unmarried. Also she went out with the manager of the group who was cheating on her. She was struggling with her weight and her diet at that time which left her puffy at times. Also she wanted to explore her interest in jazz. When she met Ron Edgeworth she found her soul mate. He was a dietary expert as well as being a top jazz pianist. Without Ron Edgeworth she would not have lived so long because of her childhood ill health. When he was dying from MND [ Motor Neurone Disease ] which is genetic, he encouraged her to say “Yes!”to The Seekers Reunion. Also in those days male musicians did not give enough credit to female musicians and did not allow a lot of input into song arrangements and into playing other instruments. Although Judith played great piano, only rarely did she play piano on The Seekers’ songs. Anyway, people sometimes make decisions which may not seem right to us but make sense from their personal life standpoint. Example: Bob Wiseman left Blue Rodeo at their peak. So did Tina Turner [Ike & Tina]. So did Mick Taylor ( Left Rolling Stones). So did Denny McClain-[Moody Blues]. So did Roger Hodgson ( Supertramp ). Anyway, the inner workings of a person’s life is not obvious from the outside. Perhaps, if the lads had encouraged her to do a solo album every 1 1/2 to two years she would have got that independence streak out of herself and she probably still would have met Ron Edgeworth ! @@stephenrichards5386
always have loved you all ! You guys are still awesome..thanks for all the years of great music you have given us..hugsss
