All such beautiful voices. Judith's vibrato is different from Karen's... created differently in the throat. I'm no expert, but I think Judith's is like a 'cough' vibrato (like Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion, where there's lots of power behind the vibrato. Karen's was more of a 'natural" vibrato by moving the larynx up and down. All beautiful stuff.

Thank you so very much for such a great song performed brilliantly. Many blessings on all of you. How do you have such a long marriage? Two key ideas: Forgiveness and Fierce Conversations (not arguments) but speaking our truths to each other when the inevitable bumps in the road happened. (I strongly suggest that those reading just the above take the time to read the whole thread because you will learn some pretty amazing information about what happens after death. Paul) 11/6/23 Two more key ideas have emerged. Commitment: Promise celebrated and renewed and mutual spiritual growth FULLY SHARED.

So sad and yet so inspiring for us to read. Let those tears roll Paul. I lost a wife to cancer at her young age of 55. Lots of tears were shed. Even right now just thinking about it. Guess I'm just an emotional guy. Here are a couple of other songs along that highway. Alone, by the Bee Gees. Barry and Lesley are the only survivors of the 5 siblings. Barry's mission is to keep the music alive. Born the same month and year as me, Sep 46. Also the song Memories, by Elvis. Hang in there Paul with songs. Best to you.

I was a child when this came out and my wonderful dad was a huge fan of the Seekers. I remember once in the car he started singing this song and we all joined in and sang it all the way through. We all knew all the words. It was a magic moment. From that moment this became a special song for our family. As we grew older and my brothers learned to play the guitar we often had family sing-songs and this song was never missed out. Happy, happy memories. Paul: I just duplicated your experience. We were married 55 fantastic years together. I came across it quite by accident, and I've never been so touched by a song. Tears of sorrow and grief and remembrances of wonderful times fill this morning after her memorial service. We triumphed through our first year married, separated by war as I left her side 43 days after making her my bride to go off to fly helicopters in Vietnam. No regrets, maybe just one, not loving her enough every single day. God richly blessed and protected us.

What a voice! RIP Judith. xx Grew up listening to her, my Dad said she had the 'voice of an angel' , played a Seekers track at his funeral, I feel a loss now she has gone. The end of an era. God Bless.

Having read her autobiography, I was surprised to learn how lacking in confidence she was about her appearance. i would've given my right arm to look as good as she did! Just goes to show how we don't appreciate how we appear to others!

I was twenty year old dude, living in South Kensington, London SW 7. I loved watching Top of the Pop on TV every Saturday night. Old songs like this one were played each week, I’m now 79 and still listening to old songs like these on Utube, remembering the days when I was young. Yes, those were the good old days.

Everytime I hear this song, I cry now. I relate this song to my husband who passed 16months ago. We meet when I was 19 and he 21. We were married for 46 and a half years. He died at 71 years of age. When he was here, each time I listened to this song, I thought him. Now listening to this song/lyrics knowing he is physically not here, makes my heart ache with pain. But, I know his spirit is with me. Judith Durham had such an amazing voice. The seekers were exceptional. That was beautiful music. ❤❤

I lost my darling wife and mother of 61 yeas back in 2019 35 days before she turned age 79. Half of me is gone, and can never be replaced. A timeless vocal gift. Their greatest song in my opinion. How many singers could sing better 30 years later?! Better than they did as wide eyed kinds in the Sixties. It must be the purity and joy of their reuniting that rekindled that old flame. Like an inferno! Had Judith Durham not broken away to pursue a solo career, history would have changed. The British Fab Four would have been eclipsed by the Aussie invasion. When the Beatles broke up in 1969 the chasm would have to be filled. The Seekers, aided by the larger British recording industry could have reached untold heights. No doubt even Paul McCartney would admit the Beatles had no one with the incomprehensible talent of Judith Durham. And neither did anyone else! JUDITH DURHAM COULD SING THE CHINESE PHONE BOOK. BACKWARDS!! Nobody had greater range as an artist. Or more rapport with an audience. Rest in peace Angel of Music. And long live the bands surviving members.
